It’s been a year and a half since Kristen Doute and Luke Broderick got engaged in September 2024, but the couple has spent the past several months focused on parenting their daughter, Kaia, who was born in June 2025.
Ahead of Kaia’s birth, Kristen admitted that wedding planning was “non-existent” for her and Luke. But now that they’re approaching the baby’s first birthday, where do their plans stand? Kristen spoke to Swooon for an update.
“I think 2027 is kind of where we’re at,” Kristen admitted. “We’re still just parenting and finding myself again. That party can wait. I will happen, just not yet.” The latest update comes after Kristen revealed in August 2025 that she had hired former Summer House star Stephen McGee as her wedding planner.
In addition to looking forward to their wedding, Kristen and Luke are also having discussions about expanding their family. “I would love to have one more [baby], for sure,” Kristen confirmed. “I know Luke would, too. Hopefully that’s in our future. I’m not ready to get pregnant just yet. It will probably happen sooner than later. I think when we get past the first year [with Kaia], we can revisit when. But, yeah, I would love to have one more, for sure.”
Before welcoming Kaia, Kristen had a miscarriage in 2023. She got pregnant with Kaia through intrauterine insemination (IUI), and after her difficult pregnancy journey, she also struggled in the aftermath of giving birth, which will be documented on Season 3 of The Valley.
“It was really difficult,” Kristen shared. “I think that was the whole part of the having a baby journey that I didn’t even consider. I kept thinking about giving birth, and looking back, that was the easiest part. I did have an easy birth, but the postpartum journey was so much more difficult and challenging than I thought. I had no idea what was coming my way and didn’t even consider how difficult it would be on Luke and I. We got through it. Kaia’s a little bit older now, and we got a better handle on being parents. We’re still going through it a little bit, but it’s so much better than it was.”
