Jen Shah has broken her silence after being released from prison in December 2025. Not only did she apologize for participating in the years-long telemarketing scheme that put her behind bars, but she also provided a relationship update after being apart from her husband, Sharrieff Shah, for just under three years.
Further, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum explained that her “personal pain” played a role in her involvement in the defrauding conspiracy. In her April 2026 interview with People, Jen said, “My husband [Sharrieff “Coach” Shah] and I were separated. We were on the verge of a divorce. I was overwhelmed with immense grief from the death of my grandmother, my father, and my aunt, all in a very short period of time. I was spiraling deeper into my previously diagnosed clinical depression.”
She continued, “And the reason I say all that is not as an excuse. Because it’s not like I was making good business decisions and then I woke up one morning and all of a sudden it’s like, ‘Oh, I made a bad business decision.’ This is the totality of everything that was going on and the overlapping of what I was dealing with personally. And I tried to avoid and numb all of that with alcohol and just avoid it.”

Are Jen and Sharrieff Shah still together?
Despite those aforementioned marital issues, Jen said her relationship is still intact today. “There are no words that can fully describe how grateful I am to have such a beautiful husband who stood by me,” Jen told People. “Our marriage is stronger than it’s ever been.”
While she was in prison, Shah shared the occasional update about her relationship with Sharrieff, who’s on the University of Utah football coaching staff. In an August 2025 Instagram post, she celebrated their wedding anniversary by sharing a photo of the two of them.
“Words cannot express how much I love and appreciate you,” Shah wrote in the caption. “You bring so much joy to my life & I am forever thankful for your overwhelming love and support as we approach this next chapter. Thank you for blessing me with two amazing young men. I love you so much & can’t wait to hold you again soon.”

“God literally sent an angel down on Earth to me in the form of Coach Shah to deal with my crazy ass,” she said during a Bravo Instagram Live, per People. “Throughout this entire ordeal, it has really, it has brought us closer than ever. Which is, it’s crazy to say that, but it really has… Coach Shah and I have had our ups and downs through our marriage… There’s no question in my mind Coach Shah loves me more than anybody or anything in the world, and he’s just been so, so supportive of me.”
How long have Jen and Sharrieff Shah been together?
The Shahs met as students at the University of Utah. “We had a class together. I saw her, my heart stops immediately,” Sharrieff said on RHOSLC. “I walk up to her [and ask], ‘Is that seat taken?’ She looks at me like, ‘There’s nobody there. I guess not.’ That’s how we met.” They married in 1994.
Shah and her husband have faced relationship troubles in the past. In RHOSLC Season 1, Jen shared that when her father died, “I was lashing out at everybody around me. It almost cost me my marriage. He was done with me acting out, and it wasn’t until Sharrieff was like, ‘I’m leaving’ — that was my rock bottom.”
In the next season of the show, Shah said they were on the verge of divorce, with Sharrieff even contacting a divorce attorney, but they worked things out in couples therapy.
Do Jen and Sharrieff Shah have kids?
Jen said on the Currently Cringing podcast that she got pregnant with her eldest son, Sharrieff Shah Jr., when she was still in college. He was born on March 10, 1994. Sharrieff Jr. played on the University of Utah football team from 2014 to 2016. He worked as an orthopedic medical assistant at the University of Utah Health from 2020 to 2022.

Jen and Sharrieff’s second son, Omar, came along in 2003. Omar was more present during Jen’s time on RHOSLC. In Season 2, Jen revealed that Omar was held at gunpoint when she was arrested by federal agents in their home. At her sentencing in 2023, she apologized to her son in court: “To my baby, Omar, Mommy is so sorry you were woken up at gunpoint.”
