‘Before the 90 Days’: Elise Teases ‘Unpredictable’ Finale After Fight With Joshua (VIDEO)

What To Know

  • Elise Benson and Joshua Lawson star on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 8.
  • Elise reflected on her dramatic bar confrontation with Joshua and his friend Nat during her interview with Swooon.
  • With two episodes left, Elise teased an “unpredictable” finale.

“My point was there, [but] my delivery was off,” Elise Benson confessed, looking back at the most shocking moment of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 8 so far, the bar argument with her boyfriend, Joshua Lawson, and his female friend, Nat.

In a moment heavily teased throughout the season, Elise reached her breaking point, making a scene in a local bar by asking the crowd if it was “crazy” for her boyfriend to be “living with a girl and getting financially f**king supported” by her. Rewinding back to joining the 90 Day Fiancé spinoff after her time on 90 Day: Hunt for Love, meeting Joshua for the first time in person, and more, Elise sat down with Swooon to reveal everything that led up to that explosive moment, and how she shifted her focus in the following days. Ahead of the final two episodes before the Season 8 Tell All, scroll to find out all about Elise’s journey so far.

While Elise was a cast member on another 90 Day Fiancé series, she revealed that meeting an international love interest was not a total coincidence. “Josh and I were talking online for, like, six months, and TLC checked in with me, and they’re like, ‘Hey, Elise, like, how’s life, how’s it going?'” She explained, “Ironically, I was like, ‘Well, I’m actually talking to someone online right now that I’ve never met that lives in Australia.'” After realizing that they fit the Before the 90 Days narrative, Elise and Joshua interviewed for a spot on the series.

Returning to the franchise, Elise hoped to show off more of her personality that the “wrecking ball” fans saw during Hunt for Love. However, after traveling to Australia for love, Elise explained, “I never felt so scared in my life.” However, that discomfort was also how she knew her connection with Joshua was so strong. “When I hugged him [at the airport] I instantly felt like this sense of safety [and] comfort,” she revealed.

That said, Joshua wasn’t the only one who greeted her at the airport. Instead, she was welcomed by her boyfriend and his bestie, Chris, who would be living with them during her trip. As she put it, “I didn’t fly around the world to, like, hang out with [Joshua’s] buddy.” Even so, nothing could have prepared Elise to find out that Joshua had previously been living with his friend, Nat. Throughout the season, fans have seen Elise struggle to wrap her head around their relationship.

“Even off camera, they were texting and calling each other all the time,” she revealed. “And it’s like, what is it that I’m not understanding? If they’re such good friends, and there’s nothing going on, why aren’t we living at Nat’s? It’s rent-free. If Josh is struggling financially, like, why don’t we live at Nat’s? Why are you paying for a rental with Chris?”

While Elise was starting to come to an understanding of what made them so tight, her over-the-top speech at the bar ended up putting the conversation to rest, just not in the way she had hoped. “All I could do the next day was apologize. Even though my point was there, my delivery was off. I kind of had to just drop it after I made a fool of myself at the bar… I lost all that because of how I acted. So I never really did end up getting to the bottom of it.”

Regardless, she did admit that her reaction was a tad too strong, especially what was directed towards Nat. “I shouldn’t have directed it so much at Nat,” she confessed. “Josh is my boyfriend, you know? I’m dating him, and he’s the one that’s getting helped by her. She’s just being either a good friend or she likes him, so that’s why she’s doing it. But whatever that might be, I shouldn’t have done it to Nat. I should have done it to Josh more and probably done it behind closed doors instead of in front of an entire bar.”

After their biggest dispute yet, Elise explained that her priority was rebuilding trust with Joshua. “I think just trying to be calmer with Josh. I thought taking him away to the Blue Mountains was going to be really good. Like, there was no Nat, there was no Chris. We weren’t in the city anymore.” She continued, “The times that Josh and I are alone together with no interruptions of anyone else, we have the best times. We’re lovers, and we’re best friends… It just feels like I could be with him forever, when it’s just us two and no outside factors.”

With only two episodes of the season left ahead of the Tell All, Elise has voiced that her final hope for her trip is to meet Joshua’s family, especially his son. “I wanted to get a glimpse into his life, right? And I hadn’t met anyone except a few friends that he goes out with. I didn’t meet his family. I didn’t meet his son, and I think it’s super, super, super important that I meet his son before I leave.”

She revealed to Swooon, “I want to have kids, so I want to see how he is as a father, right? I want to see how he is with his son. And I think that’s a huge part of his life. If I’m going to be in his life, I think it’s really important that I’m able to see how they interact.”

Looking forward, Elise teased that the final episodes of the season are “really unpredictable.” She explained, “What you think is gonna happen is not gonna happen, and what [you think] is not gonna happen is gonna happen. It’s a really big mic drop.”
