Step aside, Twisted Love! Ava and Alex‘s love story isn’t the only Ana Huang series making its way to the screen anymore.
On April 9, Variety revealed that Huang’s English Premier League soccer romance series Gods of the Game has been picked up for a three-film adaptation at Amazon. Huang, who is best known for her viral Twisted and Kings of Sin billionaire romance book series, released the first novel in her sports romance series, The Striker, back in 2024. Referred to as the “London branch” of the Anaverse during an interview with Swooon, Gods of the Game takes place in the same universe as Twisted Love, King of Wrath, and more, with character overlap.

What is Ana Huang’s Gods of the Game movie series about?
Gods of the Game follows Blackcastle soccer players and the women in their lives. The first novel in the spicy series, The Striker, follows star player Asher Donovan in his unlikely romance with the sister of his nemesis, ballet teacher Scarlett DuBois. Their book is followed by The Defender, a love story between Scarlett’s brother, Blackcastle captain Vincent DuBois, and the coach’s daughter, sports nutritionist Brooklyn Armstrong. The final novel in the series, The Keeper, which follows Scarlett and Brooklyn’s friend Carina Vu and Blackcastle goalie/single dad Noah Wilson, is set to release on October 10, 2026.
Who has been cast in the Gods of the Game movies?
Thus far, casting announcements haven’t been made for the series. Huang told readers in her most recent newsletter, “Note: NO ONE has been cast yet. As always, you’ll get the latest updates straight from me, so don’t believe anything unless it’s announced by Amazon and/or me on our official, verified accounts.” While we eagerly await an official announcement, check out Swooon‘s dream cast for the series here!
When will the Gods of the Game movies premiere?
Right now, there is no premiere date for the first Gods of the Game movie. However, as Amazon MGM is producing, we have hope that the movie will premiere in theaters, like recent romances The Drama and You, Me & Tuscany. Since the trilogy is still in development, we wouldn’t expect to see Asher and Scarlett on our screens until late 2027 at the earliest.
Who else is attached to Gods of the Game?
Gods of the Game will be produced for Amazon MGM Studios by Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark at Premeditated Productions, who are also adapting Fourth Wing. Audible’s Jackie Levine and Rachel Ghiazza are also attached as producers, alongside executive producers Huang and Audible’s Marshall Lewy.
