During the penultimate episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, ahead of the Season 8 Tell All that premieres on April 26, another couple has called it quits… At least, for now.
This season, viewers got to know 52-year-old Rick Van Vactor IV, the owner of a hair and wig extension business, who traveled to Antananarivo, Madagascar, to meet his girlfriend, 25-year-old midwife Trisha Stiley Firaisantsoa, for the first time in real life. There, Rick revealed that he had cheated on Trisha months prior, when he thought that she was ghosting him. While he spent most of the season trying to regain trust with Trisha and her family, the second-to-last episode proved that their connection may be beyond recovery. (Spoilers ahead!)
An episode prior, Trisha found a text conversation on Rick’s phone between him and the ex whom he had visited in Colombia. Rick told viewers, “Trish saw that my ex had texted me and I responded inappropriately.” In the text shown to viewers, Rick had told her, “Some of the most beautiful times of my life have been with you,” in Spanish.

Ultimately, it was Rick’s inability to block his ex (and what he told Trisha next) that caused her to break up with him. Rick told Trisha, “I love you so much, but I can’t block her… I don’t know what to do because it’s— I’m in love with you, but I do still have feelings for her, too.” Arguing he can’t “completely shut the door” on his relationship with his ex, Rick sacrificed his connection with Trisha.
As she put it, “You don’t love me. I asked you to choose, then you made your choice.” Since Rick refused to block his ex, Trisha blocked him instead, telling him, “I cannot be with someone who still has feelings for his ex. I’ll block you everywhere. I’m being serious.”
While Rick and Trisha’s relationship seems to have officially come to an end, the preview for the final episode ahead of the Tell All paints a different story. As Rick arrives at the airport to leave Madagascar, he tells viewers, “This hurts me deeply that it didn’t work out between Trish and I, and I’m leaving with no hope.” As Trisha enters the airport, it seems that there may be at least a little hope for their relationship after all.
