‘American Idol’: Rae Reacts to Brooks’ Top 7 Performance Before His Elimination
What To Know
- Brooks Rosser performed twice on the April 27 episode of American Idol before he was eliminated.
- His girlfriend, Rae Boyd, posted her thoughts on his performances to her Instagram Story.
- Brooks and Rae met during American Idol auditions and hard-launched their relationship on April 20.
Rae Boyd wasn’t in the American Idol audience to cheer on boyfriend Brooks Rosser during the April 27 live episode, but she was tuning in from a watch party in Maryland and posted her thoughts about his performances on her Instagram Story.
After Brooks took the stage to sing “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and “She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5, he posted a photo with Rae and American Idol podcast host Danielle Fishel from last week’s episode. Rae shared the post on her Story and revealed how she felt about her boyfriend’s two performances.
“I love him so much,” Rae wrote. “I have no words.” Rae was also on Brooks’ mind, as he gave her a sweet shout-out in his pre-taped package before the “She Will Be Loved” performance. “I hope Rae feels loved,” Brooks said, after revealing that he and his girlfriend have said “the L word” to each other.

Unfortunately, Brooks was in the bottom two of viewer votes and was eliminated from the show along with Daniel Stallworth. Of course, Rae knows how it feels to be sent home on American Idol, as she was eliminated after her Top 11 performance on April 13.
After meeting during the Season 24 American Idol auditions in the fall of last year, Brooks and Rae confirmed their romance during the April 20 episode. Brooks performed as part of the Top 9, and Rae surprised him on stage afterward, telling viewers, “The princess is here to claim her prince!”
Although the two didn’t meet until they both auditioned for Idol, they’re both from Maryland and spent time together between last year’s pre-taped episodes and the Live Shows, which began on March 30. However, they kept their romance a secret from the other finalists until their April 20 hard-launch.
“Everyone was super excited about it,” Rae told Swooon. “We were excited about it. When you have a partner, I feel like you just want to shout out to the world that you’re together. We weren’t able to do that for a little while, so after we were like, ‘Finally! We can tell the world.'”
