‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Christopher Briney Reveals Hopes for Next Project
What To Know
- The Summer I Turned Pretty star Chris Briney is getting candid about what genre he’d like to explore next.
- The actor’s recent appearance on Hacks had some influence on the direction he wants to take.
The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s next chapter is underway after it was previously reported that production on the film was set to kick off on Monday, April 27.
Back for the film following Belly’s (Lola Tung) story is Christopher Briney as Conrad, the Fisher brother she chose at the end of Season 3, hinting at the endgame to come in this upcoming final chapter. But Briney has been busy since Season 3 of the Prime Video hit wrapped airing in September 2025, going on to sign onto projects like The Julia Set and Clashing Through the Snow.
Most recently, fans got a taste of Briney’s comedy chops in Hacks‘ final season, which saw him embody Nico Hayes, a Harry Styles-esque performer who catches Deborah Vance’s (Jean Smart) eye. Needless to say, it was some uncharted territory for Briney, who is best known onscreen to viewers as the well-intentioned, but occasionally moody, Conrad Fisher.

It isn’t lost on Briney that he’s gotten the opportunities he’s had due in part to his breakout performance in The Summer I Turned Pretty as he shared, “I feel lucky that it’s created so many opportunities that I know I wouldn’t have otherwise. So, I hope to just capitalize on those opportunities and do the best work I can and prove I can do as many things as my mind tells me I can. I’m grateful that it got me in the door, you know?”
After his recent turn on Hacks and looking ahead to the future, we asked Briney what genre he’d like to explore next. “I’d love to do more comedy,” he remarked. “I think that there’s cool stuff going on in comedy right now. I think Hacks has been at the forefront of where comedy’s been for the past five seasons. I think comedy is going in a cool direction, and I think it’s getting weirder and weirder by the day, so I’d love to do some more comedy here and there. I don’t know, I’d love to keep working.”
While fans will have to wait and see what Briney does next, fans can look forward to his rom-com genre return with The Summer I Turned Pretty movie. Stay tuned for more on Briney’s next move, and let us know what you’d like to see Briney in next in the comments section below.
