Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton Morgan are raising filmmakers. The couple told TV Insider and Swooon at the AMC Upfront red carpet on Wednesday, April 29, that they tried to avoid getting their two kids, son Gus and daughter George, involved in show business as long as possible, but being with their parents on sets made them catch the bug. The couple reveals their eldest child’s latest acting role in one of Morgan’s upcoming shows, Sterling Point.

Morgan and Burton both have projects at AMCThe Walking Dead: Dead City and True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here and have acted and produced together throughout their relationship since they met in 2009. The best part about working together, according to Burton, is “the sh*t talk at the end of the long day.”

“There is a lot of sh*t talk,” Morgan adds, laughing with his wife.

“The best part is, if we’re working together, that means that we’re together,” Morgan continues. “We spend an awful lot of time apart, especially having kids that are 16 and eight. The 16-year-old has to be in school now. It used to be [that] you could travel and miss a lot of school if dad was out of town or mom was out of town. The only way that works now is if Hilarie and I are working together, and then somehow they can miss school. Not just when dad’s working.”

“Now, our 16-year-old wants to work,” Burton adds. “He’s like, ‘So, if I do a part in the show…'”

“It’s good to work in the summer, and then we’re all together,” Morgan adds.

By nature of his age, their son is ready to dip his toes into the family business.

“We pushed it off for a long time. And now, he’s like a film major at his high school,” Burton shares. “He’s shooting his thesis film. [Morgan] was a camera operator on this movie, so that’s a new credit for Jeff.”

Morgan reveals that Gus has been cast in his upcoming Prime Video series, Sterling Point.

“I did a show last summer for Amazon called Sterling Point, and he came in and acted for a day with his dad, which is cool,” Morgan shares. “He’s been a zombie in The Walking Dead and also just has shadowed every director. When he comes to work with me, he’ll put in a 16-hour day, and it’s amazing. It’s his happy spot, being on set.”

Their eight-year-old daughter is starting to show interest in the spotlight, too.

“George just wants to be the center of attention,” Morgan says, smiling. “It doesn’t matter where we are. We’ll see. I have a feeling she’s going to sneak in.”

“She says she wants to be a director,” Burton proudly shares. “She likes bossing men around…I worked hard at that.”

Morgan agrees: “No one’s gonna f**k with George.”

With parents like Morgan and Burton, how could they?
