On May 11, Fox, the network behind Farmer Wants a Wife, announced their newest unscripted reality dating series, Marriage Market, at their 2026 upfront presentation. According to the network, Marriage Market is an all-new dating format that “reinvents arranged marriage for a new generation.” Here’s your full guide to everything we know about the new reality show so far.
What is Marriage Market?
According to Fox, Marriage Market is a bold new series “in which real singles ready for marriage relinquish total control of their love lives to their closest family members, who marry them off at a market like no other!” The series welcomes a group of singles “who are officially over swiping, ghosting, and endless first dates.”
In an actual Marriage Market, these singles are putting their fate in the hands of their families, who are genuinely looking to set them up with an arranged marriage. The result? A hilarious, heartwarming, and sometimes heartbreaking reality series with “unpredictable outcomes.”
How does Marriage Market work?
The network has revealed that “Marriage Market is a one-of-a-kind, immersive matchmaking experience where families come together with one goal in mind: helping their single family member find a meaningful, lasting match.” So how does it work? The series will take place “inside this vibrant, real-world setting, families meet, connect, and advocate for their loved one as they search for a perfect partner.”
As far as the rules go, this is where it gets interesting. “When two families believe they’ve found a match, their singles are introduced and engaged on the spot – with the ultimate goal of making it to the altar,” the network said. “From there, the couples and their families move in together, navigating real-life compatibility, big personalities, and even bigger expectations. At any point, each of the newly matched singles’ families can decide they’ve found them ‘the one,’ or send their single loved one back into the Marriage Market for another chance at finding them love.”
Who is the host of Marriage Market?
Marriage Market will be hosted by Whitney Cummings, an actress, comedian, and podcaster best known for her work as the cocreator of 2 Broke Girls. She is the host of the weekly interview podcast Good For You.
Who else is involved in Marriage Market?
The series is executive produced by Alycia Rossiter and John Carr, with Rossiter serving as showrunner. Rossiter was a producer on The Bachelor from 2004 to 2015.
When will Marriage Market premiere?
Marriage Market does not have an official premiere date yet. However, Fox has confirmed that the new reality series will debut in 2027.
