‘Off Campus’ Star Antonio Cipriano Reveals John Logan’s At a ‘Crossroads’ in Season 1
What To Know
- Antonio Cipriano previews his character, John Logan, in Off Campus Season 1.
- Off Campus is based on Elle Kennedy’s book series, in which Logan gets his own book.
- Cipriano teases that Logan faces a major personal crossroads in Season 1.
Though Garrett (Belmont Cameli) and Hannah (Ella Bright) are very much at the forefront of Off Campus Season 1, they aren’t the only major players of the hockey romance adaptation. Garrett’s best friend, John Logan (Antonio Cipriano), gets his own arc while Hannah and Garrett fall in love.
To put it simply, the Briar U hockey player is “going through it” in Season 1, Cipriano told Swooon. At Creation Entertainment‘s Page, Screen, and Everything in Between convention on May 10, Cipriano revealed where Logan is in his life at the start of the show, which finds him living with Garrett and their teammates Dean (Stephen Kalyn) and Tucker (Jalen Thomas Brooks).
“I would describe it as a bit of a crossroads,” the actor teases ahead of Off Campus’ May 13 premiere. “He’s got a major life decision to make. And I don’t think he’s in complete control of what that’s going to be, and that kind of throws him for a loop a little bit.”
That may sound familiar to readers of Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series, which gives Logan an angsty storyline, though it may be unexpected since Logan is only a side character in Hannah and Garrett’s The Deal, which Season 1 is based on. Logan’s turmoil really comes to light when he becomes the main character in the second book, The Mistake.
Logan finds romance — as all of the hockey guys in Kennedy’s books do — but he struggles with his life outside of Briar. Because of what he’s dealing with at home, Logan has come to terms with the fact that he won’t be able to follow his dreams after college. The show introduces parts of Logan’s conflict from the jump.
“He’s got stuff with his family. He’s got stuff with Garrett. He’s got stuff with making it to the NHL,” Cipriano said about Logan’s Season 1 journey. “That is not an easy feat. And to see your best friend who… You both dreamed about playing on the [Boston] Bruins together, and to see that dream possibly slipping away is obviously hard for anybody.”
