The Happy Place costars, who began dating in 2020, confirmed their engagement in September 2025. Linn actually proposed months earlier in December 2024, so their wedding has been in the works for over a year. In a new August 2026 interview, the country singer shared an update about the upcoming milestone.
McEntire said that their busy schedules are keeping them from setting a date. “You can’t plan something that we think is going to be a week or two,” the 71-year-old told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s not going to be a wedding day — it’s going to have to be three or four days.”

Right now, McEntire and Linn don’t seem to have a wedding date on the books.
“[The plans] are kind of being pushed every time Rex gets a job because he always says work comes first,” McEntire told Extra. “Heck, we might be engaged 30 years before we ever get married, but we’re OK with that, too.”
In a separate interview with the outlet, Linn added, “We’re just enjoying our engagement right now, and I’m having a blast. I’ve never been married, so if I have to wait another year, who cares?”
Regardless, McEntire and Linn seem to have a vision for the ceremony, per the former’s August 2026 interview.

Whenever the nuptials do take place, the duo doesn’t have to worry about making sure a venue is available … because the big day will take place on their ranch in Tennessee, Linn said in his interview with Extra. The ranch is located in Lebanon, Tennessee, just over 30 miles outside of Nashville.
McEntire shared that their pets and farm animals will be included in the ceremony. “Well, see, not only do we have granddogs, we have long-horned steers, we have donkeys, we have horses, and dogs,” she told ET. “So it’s going to be a very unusual wedding on the farm.”
Linn shared a similar sentiment with Extra. “We’re going to have all our animals there. I don’t think it will be too big,” he admitted. “We might have a small wedding and then possibly have a big party.”

The exact guest list remains to be seen, but McEntire teased that it will be “low-key” with “lots of friends and family.” Specifically, she said that the affair will be somewhere “in between” a “big celebration” and a “quiet, quaint celebration.”
When ET asked if any of their celebrity friends would sing at their wedding, McEntire said, “Rex has his list, and I have my list, and if we leave anybody out, we’re going to hurt somebody’s feelings. So not sure how the music is going to roll.”
