What To Know

  • Abbey Romeo publicly addressed her breakup with Love on the Spectrum costar David Isaacman for the first time in May 2026.
  • Abbey and David met during Love on the Spectrum Season 1.
  • They broke up after nearly five years together.

For the first time since her split from her Love on the Spectrum costar David Isaacman, Abbey Romeo is opening up about being “a single woman” again.

Though Abbey’s mother, Christine, explained her daughter’s breakup in an April 18 YouTube video, confirming there was no dramatic fight that ended their relationship of almost five years, Abbey hadn’t addressed the split herself until her May 21 appearance on the Tea Time With Raven and Miranda podcast.

“Being a single lady, like what Beyoncé says, it feels amazing,” she said. “David and I decided to call each other ‘best friends,’ not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore. I’ve grown and changed a lot over the past four and a half years. I wouldn’t be where I am today. He was a good start.”

When Christine prompted her daughter to share something “funny” she’d always say about David, Abbey said, “At least David wasn’t cheating and lying like my brother’s ex.”

Abbey and David revealed their breakup to People on April 9, just a week after they appeared in the Love on the Spectrum Season 4 finale. “Abbey and David spent four and a half years together and truly value the time they shared and each other,” their statement said. “At this point, they want different things and have decided to go their separate ways, but they remain friends wishing each other the best.”

Earlier that day, The Sun reported that the couple, who met on Love on the Spectrum Season 1, could not “come to an agreement on when to get married.” The outlet claimed that Abbey was ready for the next step, and David needed more time.

However, Christine later confirmed in her YouTube video, “There was no fight over engagements and rings being thrown around. I think people are missing the point on Abbey and David.”

Christine explained that their split came about because of growth and realizing they wanted different things out of life.

“Abbey has grown a ton,” Christine explained. “None of this growth would have happened without David; that’s what relationships are, they help us grow and change. And I think Abbey learned so much in this relationship. So I’m personally grateful to David for being a mirror for her to see and figure out what she wants and who she is.”
