Get to Know Tony Nominee Caissie Levy’s Husband David Reiser
Caissie Levy is the frontrunner to win Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical at the 2026 Tony Awards, which air on June 7 with Pink as the host. The 45-year-old Broadway star plays “Mother” in the hit musical Ragtime, alongside Joshua Henry‘s Coalhouse Walker Jr.
Throughout her run in Ragtime, the first-time Tony nominee has had the support of her husband, David Reiser. Levy and her longtime love have been together for 20 years and have started a family. In a recent New York Times profile, Levy opened up about juggling parenthood and a busy Broadway career. “It was a very difficult time for my family at the start of the year. I have a 10-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter, and my amazing husband. And as any working parent knows, in order to work at your best, something takes a hit in your family life,” she said.
Reiser has been his wife’s biggest supporter throughout her career. (She famously played Elsa in Disney’s Frozen musical on Broadway!) Learn more about how Caissie Levy and her husband, David Reiser, met, when they got married, and the family below.
How did Caissie Levy and her husband meet?
Talk about the most serendipitous musical meet-cute! In 2006, Levy and Reiser met outside the stage door of the Merriam Theater in Philadelphia, according to their wedding announcement. Reiser went to see a mutual friend perform in Hairspray, and Levy was playing the role of Penny Pingleton at the time.
“We literally met for two minutes, I shook his hand and thought he was really handsome and there were sparks,” Levy said. “Both of us had been told about the other. It was one of those heightened meetings where both people are getting set up, but you only have a few minutes to chat.”
They started dating nine months later in October 2006. For several years, Levy and Reiser had a long-distance relationship, with their respective gigs taking them to different places around the country. They moved to London together in 2010 when the Broadway production of Hair transferred to London.
Today, the couple is based in New York City. Reiser, who was previously an actor, is on the full-time Performing Arts faculty at Stockton University.
When did Caissie Levy and her husband get married?
Levy and Reiser have been married since October 30, 2011. They said “I do” at Soho Beach House in Miami Beach. Reiser was raised in Florida, while Levy grew up in Canada. The couple will be celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary later this year.
Do Caissie Levy and David Reiser have kids?
Yes, Levy and Reiser have two children. They welcomed their son, Izaiah, in 2016. Their daughter, Talulah, was born in 2021. Levy sweetly posted about her kids coming to see Ragtime back in October 2025. “The best husband/partner/human brought our babies to watch Ragtime this afternoon. It was so special. Their favorites were Coalhouse & Sarah (honestly, same) and they couldn’t understand why people were so “mean” to Sarah (honestly, same),” she wrote on Instagram.

In January 2026, Levy announced that she would not be joining the Broadway musical The Lost Boys, despite spending more than two years working on the production.
“I realize now that my family needs me. Going back into a rehearsal process, an intense tech process, and an intense preview time is just not possible for me and my young kids right now,” she said in her statement.
Levy, who is still performing in Ragtime, explained that her current schedule allows her more time with her family. “My kids are changing and growing, and we had a tough start to the school year this past year, and it became very clear that something had to give,” Levy told TODAY.com. “My son, especially, really needs me to be around to show up for him right now. And my daughter does too, but she’s younger, so her sense of the time is a little different.”
