If you ever found yourself wishing for a hybrid of Heated Rivalry and Challengers, your dreams are about to come true. On June 22, Variety announced that gay tennis romance movie Forty Love is on the way — and Romeo Beckham is playing the lead.

Forty Love will serve as Beckham’s acting debut. The 23-year-old is the son of soccer star David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham. That, and the fact that we’re getting another LGBTQ+ sports romance, is enough to intrigue us. After reading the plot description, we’re even more on board.

We’re sure you’re in the same boat if you’re here, so we’ve done the work for you in getting the full rundown on Forty Love. Find out its release date, who’s playing Beckham’s costar, and more below.

How can you watch Forty Love?

Forty Love will get a theatrical release in France on November 25, 2026. The movie’s production company, Studiocanal, is currently handling worldwide sales, so we’ll have to wait to learn its U.S. release plans.

What is Forty Love about?

The film is a coming-of-age, rivals-to-lovers romance. It follows Sacha Gallo, a young tennis superstar who’s been training with his father to win a competition in Paris. His world is turned on its head by a charismatic new rival (Beckham), who challenges him on and off the court.

“For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature — love,” says the logline. “A force as exhilarating as it is destabilizing — and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”

Who is in the Forty Love cast?

Paul Kircher, known for The Animal Kingdom, will play Sacha. Beckham, who’s modeled for brands like Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga, will star opposite him.

Rounding out the rest of the cast are Guillaume Canet (Sink or Swim), Benjamin Voisin (The Stranger), and Catherine Deneuve.

Who is making Forty Love?

Beckham isn’t the only one making his film debut. Fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti will direct, with Forty Love serving as his first feature film. It’s produced by Chi-Fou-Mi Productions’ Hugo Sélignac and Paco de Bary and coproduced by Studiocanal and Manna Studios.

“There is a rare tenderness, melancholy and strength in his images, and his move into directing felt like a natural next step to me,” Sélignac told Variety. It’s a “sensual, romantic and deeply moving romantic fable and coming-of-age story” about the “demands of high-level sport, and everything that lies beneath the surface … led by outstanding performances,” Sélignac noted.

The script was written by Gaëlle Macé, who worked on  Jodie Foster‘s 2025 thriller A Private Life. The film also tapped 070 Shake and Johan Lenox for the score.

Is there a Forty Love trailer?

Forty Love hasn’t served up a trailer just yet, though Variety revealed a first-look image. If it’s headed to French theaters in the fall, we’re sure footage should be coming soon. Check back for updates!
