Recently, our FYP has been packed with content about Seeking Persephone, a yearning-filled historical romance adaptation of Sarah M. Eden’s novel by the same name. The four-part limited series, created by Passionflix, follows an “impoverished” woman (Ryann Bailey) who finds herself in an arranged marriage with a “reclusive” duke named Adam Boyce (Jake Stormoen). Think a PG mix between Ana Huang‘s King of Wrath and Beauty and the Beast.
While romance lovers everywhere are encouraging each other to tune into the genre’s newest Regency romp, it’s becoming clear that Seeking Persephone may not be as easy to access as other TV shows. What is Seeking Persephone about?
Seeking Persephone follows Persephone Lancaster, a woman who puts her dreams aside to save her family from financial ruin by accepting the proposal of a man she’s never met. Worse, her husband-to-be, Duke Adam Boyce of Kielder, is “the most feared man in England.” If you love the marriage-of-convenience trope, this is definitely the slow burn love story for you.
The Passionflix series is based on Sarah M. Eden’s Seeking Persephone, which she first self-published in 2008. Much like Bridgerton, each book of Eden’s The Lancaster Family series follows a new sibling’s love story. While it’s unclear if there will be future seasons based on Books 2-5, a potential Season 2 would likely follow Persephone’s sister, Athena Lancaster, as does Eden’s sophomore Lancaster Family novel, Courting Miss Lancaster.
