‘Jay & Pamela’ Stars Open Up About Having Kids as They Discuss Parenthood Journey (VIDEO)

In the July 7 episode of Jay & Pamela Season 2, the couple gets serious about wanting to become parents.
“When Jay [Manuel] and I first started dating, I had no intentions of being a mother,” Pamela Chavez says in Swooon’s exclusive preview. She confesses, “I think I’m so used to hearing no that maybe I’ve just gotten accustomed to say no to myself, and I don’t want to do that anymore… I’m open to it.”
Both Jay and Pamela have a rare brittle bone disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type 3. For that reason, before the two explore their options for having kids, Pamela admits, “I need to figure out what my body can and cannot handle.” She also points out that there are “so many things that we still have to work out before being parents. Not only physical but also emotional, and that’s kind of scary.”
She adds, “Jay’s ready to be a father. But am I ready to be a mother?”
The couple previously revealed to Swooon, “We are not strangers to really big conversations, and this is just another conversation.” Pamela explained, “When it comes to having children in our lives, it has been an ongoing conversation, maybe since we were dating. I feel like we’ve been going back and forth about it, and looking at our options, and trying to figure out when is the ‘perfect time.'”
“I believe it’s honestly been really cool to even talk about this,” Jay told Swooon, “because I feel like at least for myself, to go from never even thinking I would get married to anyone to talking about growing a family is really cool space to be in. It’s an ongoing conversation that we’re really even grateful to be able to explore and even discuss.”
Going forward, Pamela teased, “This is a huge conversation in Season 2: the conversations about parenthood, being newlyweds, trying to find what family means to us, what our future looks like, and growing our family — Other than just [our dog] Cheddar. Cheddar is great, but I don’t know if she wants to be the only child or not.”
