‘The Hunting Wives’ Boss Teases Juicy Margo & Sophie Dynamic in Season 2
What To Know
- The Hunting Wives has been renewed for Season 2 with Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman returning as Sophie and Margo, respectively.
- Showrunner Rebecca Cutter told Swooon what we can expect in the new episodes and teased the dynamic between the main characters, which viewers fell in love with during Season 1.
Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman had viewers enamored with their chemistry as Sophie and Margo in Season 1 of The Hunting Wives, and showrunner Rebecca Cutter is well aware that fans want more from the duo when the Netflix series returns.
Season 1 featured Sophie unexpectedly falling for the wealthy and alluring Margo after moving to her Texas town. While a lot was going on that kept them from being together, they managed to find time for a steamy romance behind their husbands’ backs, and Cutter told Swooon that we can expect even more in Season 2.
“I can say that I, as the showrunner, and May [Cobb], as the author, we’re very aware that they are the heart and soul of the show,” Cutter teased at the ATX TV Festival. “All of the drama is around their dynamic. I don’t want to give you any specifics, but I want to make everyone aware that I know that that’s why you’re watching, and we are doing everything we can to give you what you want.”
But while viewers were enthralled by the Margo/Sophie dynamic, Margo’s best friend and former lover, Callie (Jaime Ray Newman), was blindsided and hurt by the situation. In Season 2, she “has a real glow-up,” Cutter revealed, but still isn’t quite able to shake her feelings for Margo.
“She’s in a really different position in terms of her status and power,” the show creator dished. “Certainly her relationship with Margo is a fluid and ever-changing dynamic that I can’t really tell you about. I think … who isn’t in love with Margo?”
And amid the romance, there will be a “new mystery” from the jump. “It comes out right in the beginning of Episode 1, and it ties into other things, but it’s also a fresh, new mystery on its own,” Cutter promised. “A lot of the show is just, rather than a whodunit, it’s how are they going to get out of this one?”
A premiere date for Season 2 of The Hunting Wives has not been confirmed yet, but production wrapped earlier this year.
