What To Know

  • Bridgerton alum Calam Lynch reveals whether or not he’d return to the Netflix series as printshop worker Theo.
  • He also discusses his mini reunion with Kathryn Drysdale in Prime Video’s new series Ride or Die.

Bridgerton‘s fifth season may not arrive for some time, but fans can catch a fun reunion of sorts in Prime Video’s new series Ride or Die as stars Calam Lynch and Kathryn Drysdale work alongside each other at the agency employing Hannah Waddingham‘s secret assassin, Judith.

While they may not have appeared alongside each other in Bridgerton, Lynch recalls, “We really got on because we did a bit of press stuff and at the premiere I think we were sat next to each other.” For fans who may need a refresh, Lynch portrayed printshop worker Theo in Season 2 of the Shondaland hit on Netflix.

Regarding his bond with Drysdale, who portrays dressmaker Madame Delacroix, Lynch adds, “She saw that I was like green and new and was really sweet to me, so to get the opportunity to actually do scenes with her and spend time with her was lovely.” As he states, Lynch shares the screen with Drysdale this time around, as their characters, Amanda and Sam, serve the agency overseen by the Director (Bill Nighy).

As for whether or not there’s any chance fans may see Theo make a comeback on Bridgerton, Lynch says, “Great question. I mean, I don’t know. I loved doing the show, I really did. I’ve always felt that people like Jess Brownell, who runs the show, and Chris Van Dusen before her, know what’s best for those characters, and I think there’s a beauty to it being what it was,” he adds, referencing the near-romance Theo shared with Eloise (Claudia Jessie).

Viewers will recall the pair struck up a connection when Eloise sought to uncover Lady Whistledown’s true identity, unaware that it would turn out to be her best friend, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan). When Lady Whistledown exposed Eloise’s friendship with Theo to the Ton, she cut ties with the printshop worker for her family’s sake, but it saw the pair part on bittersweet terms.

While we know Season 5 will focus on the romance between Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela (Masali Baduza), the already-ordered sixth season is most likely going to put the spotlight on Eloise as a romantic lead, leaving a potential opening for Theo’s return, even if he isn’t her endgame, as Sir Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton) is Eloise’s book endgame.

“If it was really intentional and thought about and done in a really subtle, interesting way, then of course,” Lynch says of what he imagines a Theo return would look like. “I love Claudia Jessie so much, she’s so great, and I love working with her, and all of that cast, they’re all great, but I dunno, it was a long time ago…”
