‘Ransom Canyon’: Quinn & Staten Baby in Season 3? Minka Kelly & Josh Duhamel Say…

What To Know

  • Ransom Canyon Season 2 premiered July 23 on Netflix.
  • Quinn and Staten’s relationship remained at the center of the series, but they faced new challenges on their road to happiness.
  • Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel spoke with Swooon about Quinn and Staten’s next step and more.

After years and years of having feelings for each other, Quinn (Minka Kelly) and Staten finally got their chance to truly be together at the end of Ransom Canyon Season 2. They overcame the latest set of obstacles in their way — Staten’s stubbornness, Quinn’s New York love (Ben Robson), and her meddling mother (Patricia Clarkson) — and the stars aligned just right for them.

Staten handed Quinn a key to the Double K ranch in the Season 2 finale’s last moments and told her he was ready to “start forever right now.” Given how long these two have waited to be together, could a potential Season 3 see Quinn and Staten get engaged? Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel had a surprising response.

“A baby, perhaps?” Kelly told Swooon. Duhamel chimed in, “Maybe they have triplets.”

For Kelly, just because Quinn and Staten are together doesn’t mean the challenges are over. “I think it’s a really exciting idea, the potential of a Season 3 and getting to see what these two are like in domesticated life, and see really what it’s like when you try to build a life together and a home together,” she said. “You see each other’s worst parts, and you still choose each other every day. I think, you know, having a baby — maybe one wants one, one doesn’t. That dynamic, those conversations, I think there’s endless possibility because choosing to live together and build a life together has its ups and downs in and of itself.”

Before Quinn and Staten got their happy ending, Oliver was a real contender for Quinn’s heart. He came to Ransom looking to continue his relationship with Quinn and put all his cards out on the table for her. In a world where Staten didn’t exist, would Quinn have been happy with Oliver?

“He was doing and saying all the right things,” Kelly said. However, she pointed out that Quinn “only knew him for six months, so a marriage proposal was a pretty tricky thing for her to really entertain.” Kelly acknowledged that Oliver really did give Staten a “run for his money” and “sometimes that’s what a man needs is to be faced with the potential [of] I actually might lose her.”

Quinn’s mother, Claire, was at odds with her daughter over Staten. As we learned, Staten has always been a source of tension for Claire and Quinn. By the end of the season, Claire and Staten were able to come to an understanding.

Duhamel acknowledged that this conversation had been “a long time coming” for Staten and Claire. “He’s sort of buried that animosity or that resentment that he’s had for her for a long time, which is pretty on par for this guy,” he told Swooon. “He seems to bury a lot of things, but when he does finally confront her about it, I think that he’s surprised by her reaction because he’s not expecting her to sort of concede the way she does, because she’s always just sort of been that thorny bush that resisted everything he tried to do. Every time he tried to be with Quinn, she would push up against it, so I think he’s surprised by her reaction.”
