Jack Nicholson is one of Hollywood’s most legendary stars. The three-time Oscar winner dazzled on the big screen for decades before taking a step back from acting in 2010. He’s been spotted out in public numerous times since then, notably at Los Angeles Lakers games with his family and SNL’s 50th anniversary special in 2025.

The iconic actor has a large family, with many members following in his footsteps in Hollywood. Both his son, Ray Nicholson, and his grandson, Duke Nicholson, have major projects under their belts and more to come in the years ahead. With his grandson in the news regarding his latest role, we’re doing a deep dive into everything you need to know about Jack Nicholson’s kids, grandchildren, and his fascinating family history.

Who are Jack Nicholson’s kids?

Jack has six children from five relationships. He welcomed his first child in 1963, and his sixth in 1994.

Jennifer Nicholson

Jennifer was born in 1983 to Jack and his then-wife, Sandra Knight. Following her parents’ breakup, Jennifer was raised in Hawaii. She went on to attend the University of Southern California. She worked in interior design, acting, and also became a fashion designer. Jennifer made her New York Fashion Week debut in 2003.

“I like being Jack Nicholson’s daughter, and I’m proud of him, but people don’t understand the pressures that come along with that,” she told the Los Angeles Times in 2003.

She was married to Mark Norfleet from 1997 to 2003. They had two children together.

Caleb Goddard

Caleb is the son of Jack and actress Susan Anspach, who met on the set of Five Easy Pieces. When Susan got pregnant, she claimed Jack was the father of her child, but he publicly denied this. Susan married actor Mark Goddard when she was pregnant, and Mark adopted Caleb. Years later, Caleb told People that Jack recognized him as his son in private.

Honey Hollman

Jack had a daughter, Honey, with model Winnie Hollman in 1982. Today, Honey is married to Peter Duffy. They have three children.

Lorraine Nicholson

Jack and Rebecca Broussard, a model and actress, welcomed their daughter, Lorraine, in 1990. She attended Brown University and has dabbled in acting and directing. She’s made a name for herself as a writer, notably writing pieces for Vanity Fair. As an actress, Lorraine has had roles in Click and Soul Surfer. Her short film, Life Boat, premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival in 2017. She’s also directed a number of music videos.

Ray Nicholson

Jack and Rebecca welcomed Ray in 1992. The Batman star’s lookalike son has taken after his father in the acting world. He played Ray Hall in the Prime Video series Panic and has starred in movies like Smile 2, I Love You Forever, Novocaine, and Borderline. He’ll star alongside Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård in the upcoming sports drama The Mosquito Bowl

While Ray was initially against pursuing the same career as his father, he eventually leaned into it. He told USA Today that acting is a “love language between me and my dad, for sure, and that’s why I do it.” He called his Oscar-winning father his “favorite actor.” He added, “He is my north star. If I didn’t want to be compared to my dad, I would’ve been a veterinarian.”

Who are Jack Nicholson’s grandchildren?

The actor has five known grandchildren. His oldest child, Sandra, has two children, Sean and Duke. The latter is taking after his grandfather with his acting career. One of his earliest film roles was in Jordan Peele’s Us. He’s starring alongside William H. Macy and Julia Fox in the upcoming movie The Deputy. Duke also has the films Kill Me Now and Thena coming out down the line.

Is Jack Nicholson married?

The Something’s Gotta Give star has only been married once in his life. Jack married Sandra Knight, the mother of his first child, in 1962. They divorced in 1968. In 2016, his ex-wife made a rare comment about their brief union. “We had a very beautiful, sweet marriage,” she told Closer.

When did Jack Nicholson find out his sister was his mother?

Jack, who was born in 1937, grew up believing that his mother, June, was his sister, and his grandmother, Ethel May, was his mother. Ahead of the 1974 release of Chinatown, Time magazine profiled the actor and uncovered the truth about his family while verifying facts about his history. Jack’s aunt, Lorraine, later confirmed the truth about his mother to him. “I was very impressed by their ability to keep the secret, if nothing else,” Nicholson told Rolling Stone in 1986. “It’s done great things for me.”
