‘Heated Rivalry’: A Guide to Troy & Harris’ Spicy Book Scenes Before Season 2
What To Know
- Season 2 of Heated Rivalry will introduce Troy and Harris as a new couple.
- Season 2 adapts their romance from Rachel Reid’s Role Model, while focusing primarily on The Long Game.
- Troy and Harris’ story features a number of steamy chapters.
When it comes to spicy moments, Troy Barrett and Harris Drover face some stiff competition (pun intended) from Shane and Ilya. (Let’s be real, very few book couples have Hollanov beat in that area.) But the new Heated Rivalry couple gets their fair share of sex scenes in author Rachel Reid’s Role Model, which will be adapted in Season 2. You can expect Troy (Charlie Gillespie) and Harris (Justice Smith) to bring the heat alongside Shane (Hudson Williams) and Ilya (Connor Storrie).
Season 2 will primarily follow The Long Game, Reid’s sequel to Heated Rivalry, while incorporating elements of Role Model. Unlike Shane and Ilya, Troy and Harris’ love story doesn’t start with a literal bang. When hockey player Troy is traded from Toronto to Ottawa, he gradually becomes friends with his new teammates, but it’s the team’s social media manager, Harris, who he starts to develop feelings for. (Warning: Spoilers for Role Model and The Long Game by Rachel Reid ahead!)
It takes a minute for Harris and Troy to act on their mutual interest, but once they do, they don’t wait long to take their relationship to the next level. If you have yet to read Troy and Harris’ story and want some idea of what’s in store, spice-wise, Swooon‘s got you. We’ve done it for Shane and Ilya, so you know we had to give our second-favorite Game Changers couple a sex scenes guide, too. Keep reading for a breakdown of all of the hottest moments in Role Model.
Chapter 14
We weren’t kidding when we said it takes a minute. Shane and Ilya get frisky almost as soon as we meet them, but Troy and Harris have a more standard relationship timeline — as in, there’s no years-long angst sprinkled with hookups while both parties ignore their feelings. Troy and Harris first have sex about halfway through the book, just after the Centaurs’ almost-plane crash.
The almost-plane crash, if you aren’t familiar, gives everyone a wake-up call. Troy realizes how much he wants to be with Harris. Ilya encourages Troy, who doesn’t think he deserves Harris, to go after what he wants. Later that night, Troy knocks on Harris’ hotel room door — these hockey players and their hotel rooms — and things start off sweet. Troy comes bearing gifts: ice cream.

Harris admits that he was thinking about watching porn to distract himself from the plane fiasco before Troy arrived. (Subtle, Harris.) The vibe shifts even more when Harris spoons some of his ice cream into Troy’s mouth, and Troy gets comfortable on the bed. Harris says Troy can stay the night. Harris lies facing away from Troy, and Troy slides his hand down Harris’ arm before pressing a sweet kiss to the back of Harris’ neck.
They kiss for the first time — at last! — and they’re off to the races. Harris escalates things by rolling on top of Troy to let him know just how into the proceedings he is, if you catch our drift. Troy flips their positions around before they get their pants out of the way. They grind against each other until they get off.
We feel compelled to mention that Harris calls Troy “buddy” almost immediately afterward — sorry, but we wouldn’t mind that being kept out of the show, but to each their own — before they fall asleep together. Troy leaves the room quickly the next morning, though, still thinking he doesn’t deserve Harris. We have to have some angst.
Chapter 17
Troy gets it together pretty soon after, admitting that their hookup was actually a big deal to him. He apologizes for bolting. Harris, who has endless patience and grace, asks whether Troy wants to sleep together again. They go to Harris’ place. After some heavy making out against the door, Troy drops to his knees and goes down on Harris more than enthusiastically.
They switch to hand stuff in the bedroom. Harris lets Troy know that he doesn’t want gentle treatment — he grew up with a heart defect and has always dealt with people acting like he’s fragile, to his dismay — and Troy immediately understands. Troy hesitates a little when he sees Harris’ chest scar from his surgeries, since Harris hasn’t explained his condition yet, but he understands when Harris doesn’t want to dwell on it. Troy sets out to show Harris just how hot he is, going down on him again. (According to Troy, his top two skills are hockey and deep throating. Respect.)
Troy delivers on his promise to give it to Harris hard. He even manhandles Harris into his lap and bites down on his neck before they get off. This time, Troy has learned his lesson and doesn’t immediately run away after staying the night. Yay, growth!
Chapter 18
Harris and Troy shower together the morning after. Troy puts one of his top two skills to use again, but their hands end up doing the job. It’s short and sweet.
Troy and Harris hit a standstill in their new relationship, however, almost immediately afterward when Troy broaches the topic of his sexuality still being secret. He doesn’t want to make Harris hide and suggests they be friends until he figures out what to do. (Really, Troy? “Friends?” We still love you, though.)
Chapter 21
Yeah, that doesn’t last long either. Troy folds fast, and again, we love him for that. Those who’ve read The Long Game know the influence a Fabian Salah concert can have on someone’s sex drive. Though Troy and Harris don’t get immediately horny in the middle of the venue like Shane and Ilya do in their own book, they do get frisky afterward at Troy’s place. Harris goes down on Troy this time. At Harris’ prompting, Troy does not hold back, to say the least. Sorry to Troy’s neighbors.
When they get around to actually doing the deed, Troy keeps up the manhandling, yanking Harris to the edge and planting a foot on the side of the mattress. It doesn’t take long for them both to finish after that.
Chapter 22
Adorably, Troy takes Harris on an overnight trip to a lodge, booking the two of them the honeymoon package. We’re talking hot tubs, massages, matching robes, and the works, so they’re horny the entire time, understandably. They wait until they actually get to their cabin to get down to business, but Troy takes his time touching Harris everywhere while they lay on the floor. Except for there, to draw things out.
Harris takes charge and surprises Troy by eating him out, and Troy is very into it. Harris may like it rough the other way around, but he likes being on top, too, especially when it’s slower. Before things can end too quickly, Troy takes Harris into his mouth. (Troy might rival Shane with his oral fixation.) They sixty-nine all the way to the finish line.
Chapter 23
After a successful visit to Harris’ family farm, Troy and Harris’ feelings for each other grow deeper. On the drive home, Troy declares that he wants to come out, making a plan with Harris before they arrive at his place. Troy, who hasn’t bottomed in a while, asks Harris to top for the first time. To get things going, Harris uses his mouth on Troy first and takes his time using his fingers. The unhurried pace continues until the end.
Afterward, Harris is his usual goofball self. When he leaves the room to clean up, Troy grabs Harris’ stuffed giraffe and confesses, “I think I’m in love with him, Mr. Neck-Neck.” That’s one of the lines we have to see in the adaptation. It’s simply too good.
That’s where Troy and Harris’ spicy journey ends, though rest assured, they get their happy ending. Which one do you think has to make it into Season 2? Tell us in the comments below!
