In an interview with British Vogue, which was published on August 13, Kidman explained how she was processing her divorce from Keith Urban. She’s been taking a “feelings first” approach. She said, “That’s just who I am. I don’t overthink things, and I’m probably not that analytical. I’m far more feeling-centered, and I lead with my heart. I just go, ‘OK, what do I feel here? I’ll give it a go.’ It throws people, because I think they think I’ll be far more measured, and I’m not.”

Kidman hasn’t confirmed if she’s in a new relationship, but since July 2026, she’s been spotted several times with American businessman Michael Reinstein. They were in each other’s company while vacationing in Italy, and again a short while later, Reinstein picked Kidman up from Hollywood Burbank Airport in a Ferrari.
Reinstein is the founder and chairman of Beverly Hills-based global investment firm Regent. The Los Angeles Times reported in a November 2018 article that he was 47 years old, making him around 55 years old today. According to the outlet, he graduated from USC and has a law degree from Pepperdine University. He previously worked at the talent agency ICM. He also held jobs at commemorative coin designer Franklin Mint and private equity firm Archetype Capital.

Kidman hasn’t shared the specifics of why they split, and she told British Vogue that she doesn’t intend to. She’s processing the end of her marriage, and admitted that this year hasn’t been the easiest for her. “But at the same time I’m like, ‘OK, I didn’t expect this. I had a different view of what my life was going to be, but this is what it is now,'” she noted. “You make all these plans, and you have all these ideas of what it’s all going to be like, and then it’s… not. You have to adjust. You adapt. The future, it’s completely unknown to me right now.”

The actress also recalled her first marriage to Tom Cruise in the British Vogue article. They married in 1990, when Kidman was 22. They separated in February 2001. Cruise filed for divorce at the time, citing irreconcilable differences.

Kidman made rare comments about her ex-husband and their relationship. “Yeah, I got married so young,” Kidman reflected decades later. “Suddenly I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. But it just seemed completely natural. We just fell madly in love, and it was that simple. I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married.’ And then I was his ‘wife,’ and they were like, ‘See, we told you.’ I’m like, ‘So what?’ I wasn’t meant to marry the man I love? Of course I’ll throw my career away. I don’t care.'”
The actors notably shared the screen twice during their marriage — in 1992’s Far and Away and 1999’s Eyes Wide Shut. For the first time in over two decades, Cruise mentioned Kidman during his 2025 interview with the British Film Institute’s Sight and Sound magazine. Regarding Eyes Wide Shut, Cruise said, “I suggested Nicole play the role. Because obviously she’s a great actress.”
The last time Cruise spoke about Kidman was in 2005 during an interview with 60 Minutes Australia. The interviewer asked the Mission: Impossible actor if Kidman was the love of his life. “Listen, we raised children. I mean, how do you answer that question?” Cruise replied, before adding, “I loved Nic, very much. There’s no question.”
