Before he was Bill Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful, Don Diamont got his start in soaps playing Carlo Forenza on Days of Our Lives. That’s where he met actress Gloria Loring, who had recently separated from Alan Thicke. Diamont eventually started dating Loring, who was 16 years older than the actor.
Diamont appeared on the August 18 edition of the Soapy podcast to discuss his decades-long career in soaps. As he reflected on his first soap role on DAYS, the actor recalled his relationship with Loring. Their relationship began when he was about “22 or 23” years old.
The B&B star said his romance with Loring was a “wonderful thing” to come out of his time in Salem. When he started dating Loring, she was raising her two young kids, Robin Thicke and Brennan Thicke. Diamont was proud to be a positive role model in their lives, having had a “really good dad” himself.

He didn’t find the situation “uncomfortable” at all, despite the age difference between him and Loring’s two children being less than the one between him and Loring. Diamont noted that he was “there for them” when Alan’s career was skyrocketing due to the success of Growing Pains. He was happy to be a “positive male role model” in Robin and Brennan’s lives when they were younger.
Diamont revealed that a friend called him about Robin’s appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where The Masked Singer judge spoke fondly of Diamont. The Daytime Emmy winner had no idea that his presence in Robin’s life was so impactful.
Loring and Diamont dated for a few years in the 1980s. Loring married Christopher Beaumont in 1988, and they divorced in 1993. She has been married to Rene Lagler since 1994.
As for Diamont, he married Rachel Braun in 1994, and they had four sons together. They split in 2002. He welcomed twin boys with his now-wife, Cindy Ambuehl, in 2000, and they tied the knot in 2012.
