On August 24, Variety revealed that a sequel to the beloved Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey rom-com is in the works at Paramount. Hudson is reportedly already attached to the project as a producer, and both she and McConaughey are in talks to return as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry.

Right now, there is no official plot for the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days sequel. The original film followed Andie (Hudson), a magazine writer who turns herself into a horrible girlfriend to write a “how to” article on driving a man away by “doing everything girls do wrong in relationships.”
When Ben (McConaughey) bets that he can sell himself to “any woman” by making her fall in love with him in ten days, he and Andie cross paths, entering a wild battle of wits, where she tries to drive him away while he will do anything to keep her close. Maybe a follow-up film will focus on Andie and Ben’s now-adult kid?

As of August 2026, there is no set cast for the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days sequel. “The intention of the filmmakers and the studio is to have [Kate] Hudson and her co-star from the original, Matthew McConaughey, reprise their roles,” Variety reported. The original cast also included Kathryn Hahn, Adam Goldberg, and Bebe Neuwirth.
