‘Furious’: Do Alice & Danny End Up Together? Their Relationship, Explained

Hulu’s Furious is a complicated thriller that follows FBI agent Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) as she is on the hunt for an elusive serial killer named Catherine Grace (Lola Petticrew), who is taking revenge on the men in her past who are responsible for the death of her love, Isabel (Larissa Campos). But the series is also about Alice dealing with her own trauma. Her relationship with Danny Kelly (Scoot McNairy) becomes an important part of that story.
After years of abuse from her now-ex-boyfriend, Marshall Connelly (Jake Lacy), who is a cop also on the case, Alice struggles with love and intimacy. She is so broken that she hooks up with dangerous men she meets on the internet for encounters that emulate her and Marshall’s abusive relationship. Danny gives her something different: Someone who cares about her and makes her feel safe without trying to control her.
What is their relationship like in the beginning?
Danny and Alice’s relationship is complicated from the jump. The two previously worked together at the NYPD, and Danny was one of the few people who stood by Alice after she accused her longtime boyfriend and fellow detective Marshall of abusing her. His support of her cost him relationships within the department and his career. And after Alice left the NYPD to join the FBI, he was truly left alone.

As they begin working together again on the Catherine case, Danny becomes one of the few people Alice trusts with the darkest parts of her past. After getting drunk at her sister’s engagement party, Alice’s sister reveals that Marshall used to drag her out of the shower and beat her, which created her fear of taking showers.
Danny takes her home and helps her shower, standing nearby so she feels safe. He offers her comfort during one of her most vulnerable moments. Alice later opens up to him about how the abuse has affected her relationships with sex and violence, as well as her childhood in a group home.
When do they face their true feelings?
Their feelings finally come to the surface after Marshall attacks Alice again. Drunk and angry, he waits for Alice outside of a woman’s shelter while she is in a dangerous situation with Catherine. As she runs out to capture her, Marshall tackles her on the street. He is shot by Catherine, who also offers to kill Marshall on Alice’s behalf, which she declines.

Frightened, Alice asks Danny to stay with her and tells him she loves him. Danny can’t act on those feelings yet after discovering that mogul Jay Easton’s (Peter McRobbie) collection includes a video of Alice being sexually abused as a teenager. The video is discovered on Jay Easton’s computer, saved by his lawyer, Hal (Campbell Scott), “just in case,” which is given to him by Catherine’s client/”fiancé” Alden (Steve Way) after authorities seize Hal’s computer.
Danny refuses to turn it over because he doesn’t want others to see it, admitting that he loves her but can’t get the image out of his head. At that time, the two decide the timing is not right, as Alice has hurdles in the way. With the high-profile case still ongoing and her still recovering from her past, Alice asks Danny to wait.
Do Alice and Danny end up together?
By the finale, Danny and Alice finally become a couple, and the two take a vacation together to Danny’s beach house, where they can “play parcheesi,” and more importantly, kiss freely.
As Alice has made it a habit in the past to seek out rough partners, before they get intimate, Danny lets her know, “I can’t get rough with you. You know that?” He loves her too much to hurt her in any way. “I know,” she responds.
As he has done before, he stands by as she showers, making sure she is safe and loved, bringing their story full circle.
Danny decides to leave the NYPD because his whole life he was able to look at things others could not, and now, he doesn’t want to look at these things anymore.
What was once a place where Marshall controlled and terrorized Alice becomes a place where she feels safe with Danny. He gives her the hard drive containing her videos, ultimately trusting Alice to decide what happens next. And with that, Alice reclaims her life and her power.
