‘Sex Lives of College Girls’ Romance Recap: Who Did Everyone End Up With?

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2, Amrit Kaur, Pauline Chalamet, Alyah Chanelle Scott, and Renee Rapp
HBO Max

On August 31, we’re heading back to Essex College with our favorite roomies because The Sex Lives of College Girls is coming to Netflix.

Mindy Kaling‘s raunchy, college-set coming-of-age drama premiered in November 2021, introducing the world to preppy legacy student Leighton (Reneé Rapp), college athlete Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott), aspiring comedian Bela (Amrit Kaur), and sheltered work-study student Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), whose unlikely friendships formed after they found themselves in the same dorm suite. (Spoilers ahead!)

Through three seasons of wild hookups, love triangles, and messy splits, these roomies were truly put through the wringer. During Season 3, Leighton transferred to MIT, leaving them with a new roommate, Duke transfer theater kid Kacey (Gracie Lawrence), who arguably had some of the worst romantic strife of them all.

From the Canaan (Christopher Meyer) love triangle to Leighton and Alicia’s (Midori Francis) will-they/won’t-they saga, almost everyone’s love story was left open-ended when the series was canceled (devastating, tbh) after Season 3. So, who did Kimberly, Bela, and the rest of the Essex roomies end up with? Scroll to find out everyone’s endgame (or lack thereof).

Who did Leighton end up with in Sex Lives of College Girls?

While Rapp left Sex Lives of College Girls before the series met its untimely end, her early departure gave Leighton the relationship closure most of her costars’ characters did not receive. After getting back together with Alicia during the Season 2 finale, Leighton finds herself in a tough position when her girlfriend reveals that she’s moving to Boston for a job. Luckily, Leighton is in a bit of a rut with Essex’s math program, and her advisor suggests that she transfer to MIT for a more challenging math curriculum.

Of course, leaving Essex means saying goodbye to Kimberly, Bela, and Whitney, but for Leighton, moving to Boston with Alicia and the promise of some rigorous mathematics is definitely a happy ending.

Who did Kimberly end up with in Sex Lives of College Girls?

At the start of Season 3, Kimberly and Whitney get into a massive argument when Whitney finds out that Kimberly has been seeing her ex-boyfriend, Caanan. That said, her fling with Caanan is just that, a fling. After calling it quits with him, Kimberly has two potential love interests heading into the series finale: her law classmate Brian (Michael Hsu Rosen), whom, at that point, she’s been seeing most of the season, but broke up with after he refused to delete her nudes, and Eli (Michael Provost), an edgy bisexual she briefly dated before getting too high with him at a rave.

Kimberly and Eli never make things official, but seeing as he bails her out of jail in the finale, following her campus protest arrest, we’d assume that their relationship was just getting started.

Who did Bela end up with in Sex Lives of College Girls?

Bela saw some huge character development during Season 3 after deciding to quit comedy and declare that she wanted to change her personality heading into sophomore year. After becoming the floor’s new Friendly Advisor and Friend (FAF), Bela meets Taylor (Mia Rodgers), a prickly resident who has been struggling with her sobriety. She also bonds with Arvind (Nabeel Muscatwalla), another FAF, whom she’s majorly crushing on.

While Bela and Arvind start seeing each other towards the middle of the final season, their split leads to her actual endgame: Haley (Belle Adams). Who is Haley, you ask? Haley is a storytelling show host at Sips and an eleventh-hour addition to the cast, who only appears in the final two episodes of the series. In that short amount of time, she opens up Bela’s eyes to dating for an emotional connection over a physical one and makes her realize that she is bisexual. At the end of the season, Bela even silently comes out to her mom (Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier) by taking Haley’s hand during Kacey’s performance of “Never Enough.”

Who did Whitney end up with in Sex Lives of College Girls?

After reconciling with Kimberly over the Canaan drama, Whitney finds herself at the heart of her own love triangle between Canaan and Isaiah (Devin Craig), another wealthy student whom she starts hooking up with non-exclusively. Once Isaiah and Whitney start dating for real, Canaan reenters her life as a friend, which complicates the entire situation. Later, Canaan and Whitney share a kiss, even though she’s still dating Isaiah.

When the roomies make their boyfriends take a secret good partner test, Whitney invites both Isaiah and Canaan. While Isaiah fails, Canaan passes with flying colors. This ultimately leads to Whitney and Canaan’s romantic reunion.

Who did Kacey end up with in Sex Lives of College Girls?

While Kacey transferred to Essex to be with her boyfriend Calvin (Tyler Barnhardt), her new roomies almost immediately spot him kissing another girl. Soon after, she meets Cooper (Roby Attal) at theater auditions, who asks her out. Once they start dating, Kacey is worried about telling Cooper she is a virgin. However, once they actually do have sex, Kacey takes things too fast, abruptly introducing him to her parents, which causes him to dump her. Cue: A heartbreaking rendition of The Greatest Showman‘s “Never Enough.”
