How many kids does Garth Brooks have?
Garth shares three daughters with his ex-wife, Sandy Mahl, whom he met in college. After marrying in 1986, they grew their family. Garth and Mahl separated in 1999, and the singer temporarily retired from music to raise his kids on his ranch in Oklahoma.
“People said, ‘How could you walk away from music?'” he told People. “But being a dad — there’s nothing that can touch that.”
About five years later, Brooks married Trisha Yearwood, who calls herself a “bonus mom.” She told People, “They let me learn my way and allowed me to be that third parent in their lives. They were a gift that I didn’t know I needed. I didn’t know how much children brought into your life until I got a chance to be a part of their lives.”

Allie Colleen Brooks
Brooks’ youngest child is 30-year-old singer-songwriter, Allie Colleen. Per her website, she’s been active in the music scene since 2018. She released her debut country album, Stones, in 2021.
During an appearance on The BobbyCast podcast, Allie said that she didn’t start putting out music until after college because of a deal she had with her parents. “Education was very important to all three of my parents,” she said. “So we kind of agreed when I was young that I would go to college even if I still wanted to pursue music, because I chose music when I was like eight. I knew my whole life that this is what I wanted to do. I’ve been writing songs since I was eleven or twelve.”
She continued, “But I think Dad realized really early that I caught the bug and sat me down, and he was like, ‘Listen, we expect the same thing from you out of your sisters, all those things. You know, you’ll go to college, and you’ll get that degree because it’s such an honor to have that education. I don’t think they anticipated me going to get a songwriting degree, but I did, and it was rad.”
Taylor Mayne Pearl Brooks
Born in 1992, Brooks’ eldest daughter Taylor isn’t in the spotlight like her sister, though she appeared in the 2019 documentary Garth Brooks: The Road I’m On. She was two years into her master’s degree in theological studies at Vanderbilt University at the time. “Taylor is quiet courage,” Garth said in the film. “Taylor will trade her life for someone she doesn’t know.”
Taylor is also a mom, according to an Instagram post shared by Allie. “Celebrating the gorgeous mommas in my life. I love you so much,” Allie wrote in the caption. “My beautiful mommas and my sister who is THE coolest mom, other than my other sister who is also the coolest Mom.”

Garth’s middle child, August, was born in 1994. After high school, she worked at a law firm and attended the University of Oklahoma, per The Boot. She, too, has kept a low profile compared to several of her family members. August also made Garth a grandfather, as Allie shared on Instagram. With high school sweetheart Chance Russell, August welcomed daughter Karalynn in 2013. Their second daughter, Gwendolyn, was born in 2016.
