What To Know

  • Amber Mozo, who married Harry Jowsey on Let’s Marry Harry, received advice and support from her cousin Litia Garr, a former Bachelor runner-up, before joining the show.
  • Amber revealed that Litia encouraged her to embrace the reality TV experience.
  • At the reunion, Amber stood up for herself, determined to speak her truth despite others giving “safe” answers.

Turns out, dating on reality TV runs in this family!

When Amber Mozo, who married (and divorced) Harry Jowsey during the inaugural season of Let’s Marry Harry, sat down with Swooon to discuss her time on the wild show, she was thrilled to share the advice that her cousin, fellow reality romance alum Litia Garr, gave her heading into the unique experience.

Contestants’ reality TV journeys begin long before the cameras start rolling. Recalling how she decided to apply for Let’s Marry Harry in the first place, Amber shared, “Litia said that it would be amazing and encouraged me to do the show. I think she had experiences with some of the producers that also helped out with her season of The Bachelor. I was a little hesitant, and she was like, ‘It’s going to be an amazing experience. It’s going to grow you.’ So I really trusted her in that.”

While Amber’s journey may not have panned out in the way she had expected — find out all about her side of her explosive breakup with Harry here — she admitted that going on the show was a worthwhile experience, as Litia had said. “I grew to know myself so deeply,” Amber explained. “Through an experience that takes you out of your comfort zone, when you film, you are extremely uncomfortable, and all you have is you every day. It was such a cool experience.”

Litia was the runner-up on Grant Ellis‘ season of The Bachelor, so she knows a thing or two about how to handle reuniting with an on-camera lead who broke your heart. Given that experience and her knowledge of Amber’s year off-camera, Litia was able to guide Amber ahead of the August 26 reunion as well. “She understands the details of what went down when the cameras cut and what I’ve been going through in my personal life,” Amber explained, and then added, “Dealing with Harry and not really having a voice, or being able to make any public statements, so she understood my pain and how hard it’s been.”

In the days ahead of the reunion, Amber attempted to contact Harry, but he “wasn’t willing” to talk with her. For that reason, Litia knew exactly what energy Amber was ready to bring to the stage. “She knows me. I’m a little bit of a fireball. There’s a lot more, too, that I didn’t even say on stage. There are many, many layers of this situation that [aren’t] okay. So I really went and stood up for myself.”

While Amber felt some of her castmates sidestepped the truth, or went with the “safe answer,” she told herself, “I’m gonna do this reunion. I’m here for the truth. I’m a real girl. I experience real things and real pain. So, everyone who has done things, I’m gonna call you out on it.”
