As part of our Spice It Up video series, the author revealed to Swooon the official ranking of her spiciest books, based on their level of steamy content. While Huang’s books generally contain similar amounts of spice, she shared, “Before I do this, I will preface it that, in terms of choosing the ranking, I will do both how much spice there is in the book, but also the type of spice.” That means that “if it’s a little out there,” it will rank higher on her list than something more vanilla.
Huang also hinted at a major Kings of Sin spice scene connection: “I think all of them have a scene in the Valhalla Club. That library has seen some things.” Could this mean that King of Gluttony, which received an official cover reveal in Ana Huang’s newsletter on June 25, will take us back to the Valhalla Club? Only time will tell!

Ana Huang’s next book, TheDefender, hits shelves on October 28, 2025
10. King of Greed
According to Huang, King of Greed is at the bottom of the spice scale. “It is spicy,” Huang told Swooon in reference to her Kings of Sin second chance romance. “I don’t think it has as many spicy scenes as the rest of the books, and the spicy scenes that are in here are kind of a little bit more standard.”
9. The Striker
The first book in Huang’s newest series, Gods of the Game ranks at #9. According to Huang, The Strikerbelongs above King of Greed because “it does have the ballet barre scene.” This iconic scene, which Huang once told Swooon was inspired by her love for a steamy mirror moment, “gave it the edge over Dominic and Alessandra.”
8. King of Sloth
Huang shared that “King of Sloth is #8 because (again) there aren’t quite as many spicy scenes as the rest of the books.” However, she was sure to add that the book contains one of her more controversial scenes, “the shoe scene at the Valhalla Club.” While some readers adore the scene and others prefer their spicy scenes shoeless, “that lands it on the lower-middle end of the spice scale.”
7. King of Pride
Coming in at #7 is King of Pride. “If you’ve read this book,” Huang told Swooon, “you will also know that there is a scene with Pride and Prejudice… I am so sorry if this ruined Pride and Prejudice in any way.” Due to Kai and Isabella’s steamy reading scene, King of Pride lands itself on a higher spice bracket than the first three.
6. Twisted Love
According to the author, her sixth most spicy book is the one that many of her readers started with: Twisted Love. “I know maybe in their minds [readers] think it’s spicier than it is.” While Huang admitted that it is a little bit graphic, she noted, “There aren’t actually that many spice scenes in Twisted Love so it does not make the Top 5.”
5. King of Envy
Coming in at #5 is Huang’s most recent book (as of June 2025), King of Envy. “For this one,” Huang shared, “I think I’m really thinking of that elevator scene, which takes up a whole chapter.” Another major spice scene was Vuk and Ayana’s first time, “which also takes up quite a few pages.” As those spice scenes are “very in depth” King of Envy lands just above Twisted Love.
4. Twisted Lies
Just outside of the top three is Twisted Lies. As Huang put it, “Christian and Stella on a boat with ice cubes, that’s really all I have to say.” While Christian and Stella technically share less spice scenes in Twisted Lies than Vuk and Ayana do in King of Envy, according to Huang, “That ice cube took them over the top.”
3. King of Wrath
Huang’s third spiciest book is King of Wrath. When it comes to Dante and Vivian’s romance, Huang told Swooon, “I think there’s a little bit more spice in here than some of the books below it.” King of Wrath has “several iconic spice scenes” including the limo scene and another steamy mirror scene.
2. Twisted Games
Her #2 pick takes us to Eldorra with Twisted Games. Huang prefaced that Bridget and Rhys’ love story contains “a lot of graphic spice,” adding, “I think there was probably a part in the second half of the book where there was spice in every chapter for four chapters.” However, “even that four chapter run” could not compare to the book in her #1 slot.
1. Twisted Hate
According to Huang, her spiciest book is Twisted Hate. “I do think Hate is the #1 spiciest book,” Huang revealed to Swooon. “It’s enemies with benefits, obviously a lot of spice.” Huang also shared a personal story: “A couple of years ago I saw someone take a photo of a bookstore, somewhere abroad in another country. Of all four books in the Twisted series, Twisted Hate was the only one that got a ’21+ only’ sticker.”
