It’s finally time to head to Barry’s Bay for the summer! Before we head to the lake, Swooon‘s breaking down everything you need to know about the cast and characters of Every Year After.
Based on Carley Fortune‘s wildly popular novel, Every Summer After, Prime Video’s new series follows Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall), a 30-year-old who used to live in Barry’s Bay every summer with her parents, as she returns to the lake for the first time in years. Woven between one week in modern day and six summers in the past, Fortune tells the story of Percy and her childhood best friend/first love, Sam Florek (Matt Cornett). Could an unexpected call from Sam’s brother, Charlie (Michael Bradway), be a second chance with her first love, or simply a chance to reopen herself to more heartbreak?
While the novel primarily follows Percy, Sam, and Charlie (who later received his own love story, One Golden Summer), the series is also set to bring their close friends, Delilah (Abigail Cowen), Jordie (Joseph Chiu), and Chantal (Aurora Perrineau), into the picture. Through flashbacks, we also see young Percy (Juliette Hawk), Sam (Blue Clarke), and Charlie (Carson MacCormac).
Dive into everything you need to know about the Every Year After cast and their characters, including where you’ve seen them before and how they fit into the story, below.
Cornett is stepping into the world of Barry’s Bay as one of the two beloved Florek brothers from Fortune’s novel Every Summer After. Outside of his time at East High, Cornett has made a splash in the industry as Max in Summer of 69 and A-Lan in Zombies 3. Now, the 26-year-old actor is stepping into the shoes of Fortune’s male lead, the anatomy-loving, horror movie-tolerating Sam. In the book, we meet Sam in his early teens when he first meets Percy and catch up with him again at 30.
During an interview with Swooon, Cornett teased his Every Year After role with his on-camera brother Michael Bradway. Check out our full conversation here!

Sadie Soverall as Percy
Cornett stars opposite Sadie Soverall, who plays Persephone “Percy” Fraser in Every Year After. Ahead of the premiere, Soverall starred in the London stage production of John Proctor is the Villain. As a star of the stage and screen, with previous credits in Saltburn, Fate: The Winx Saga, and Arcadian.
At 24, the British actress is stepping into the role of friendship bracelet connoisseur Percy Fraser, who travels to Barry’s Bay for the first time at 13, which is when she meets both Sam and Charlie Florek. Over the next six years, Percy grows closer to Sam, falling for him along the way, until they fall out of contact. The first book picks up with Percy, now an editorial assistant at Shelter Magazine, returning to Barry’s Bay after a call from Charlie… Not Sam.

Michael Bradway as Charlie
Get your banana boat ready because Bradway is stepping into the role of Charlie Florek, Sam’s older, flirtier brother. Before Every Year After, the 27-year-old actor was best known for portraying firefighter Jack Damon in Chicago Fire.
Charlie gets his own romance in Fortune’s Every Summer After sequel, One Golden Summer. According to the showrunner, if Every Year After is renewed for Season 2, they plan to “take a lot” from Fortune’s sequel.
Ahead of Season 1, Bradway told Swooon that there are a few “One Golden Summer easter eggs and teasers,” to look forward to. Trust us, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for Alice Everly during Season 1, just in case!

Aurora Perrineau as Chantal
Aurora Perrineau joins the cast as Percy’s adult best friend, Chantal. While Chantal rarely appears in person in the novel, it is clear that Chantal is heading to Barry’s Bay in the adaptation! According to the showrunner, the adaptation will build out the lives of the book’s side characters more. She explained to Elle, “For me to build a series, you don’t want it to be just two people. I wanted to know who was in their lives and why.”
At 31 years old, Perrineau has previously starred as Shana Elmsford in Jem and the Holograms, Riddy in KAOS, and Dani Powell in ProdigalSon. She has also worked as a model.

At 28, Cowen is best known for roles in The Fosters, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Stranger Things. Clearly, Cowen shares readers’ love for Fortune’s series. When she was cast in Every Year After, Cowen posted, “We are PUMPED. So excited to bring Delilah to life heheh🤗🙈🙌 .”
During the trailer, Delilah can be seen kissing Charlie in the Tavern, which is a major twist from the book. Could this mean Charlie and Delilah will be endgame in the adaptation?
