7 ‘One Tree Hill’ Weddings, Ranked

One Tree Hill Weddings, ranked
The CW/Everett Collection

One Tree Hill ran for nine seasons from 2003 to 2012, and romance was an integral part of the teen drama. Throughout the series, seven weddings took place among the characters.

Considering this show was always full of drama, not every wedding resulted in the bride and groom actually saying “I do.” Some of the wedding days were also affected by other tragedies and dramatic moments.

The majority of Tree Hill weddings were thrown together quickly for one reason or another, but others were carefully planned out. Needless to say, no two weddings were the same, and we’re looking back at all seven and ranking them from worst to best.

Scroll down for our official ranking of the weddings of One Tree Hill, and let us know in the comments section below if you agree with how we ordered the list. What changes would you make if you were ranking them?!

7. Lucas & Lindsey

This has to be the worst wedding in the history of weddings. First of all, everybody knew Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Lindsey (Michaela McManus) weren’t meant to be together. He basically only proposed to her because he thought he had no shot at a future with Peyton (Hilarie Burton), who previously rejected his marriage proposal.

Well, it took getting to the literal altar for Lindsey to fully come to terms with the fact that Lucas was never going to get over Peyton. She ran out on him before they said “I do.”

But that wasn’t even the most dramatic part of the day. Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley’s (Bethany Joy-Lenz) son, Jamie (Jackson Brundage), was KIDNAPPED by Nanny Carrie (Torrey DeVitto) before the ceremony. It ended up being one of the most villainous characters in television history, Dan Scott (Paul Johansson), who rescued him after witnessing her take the child to a motel room.

Keith and Jules' Wedding on One Tree Hill
The CW

6. Keith & Jules

Obviously, this was doomed from the start, as Jules (Maria Menounos) was never who she said she was. Keith’s (Craig Sheffer) brother, Dan, hired Jules, whose real name was Emily Chambers, to fall in love with Keith and break his heart. She took the gig so seriously that Keith ended up proposing to her very quickly, leading to their Season 2 wedding.

Luckily, Karen (Moira Kelly) found out what was really going on before Keith and Jules exchanged vows. Keith was left heartbroken when Jules left him at the altar because Karen threatened to tell him who she really was. Keith was devastated, but he clearly dodged a bullet (at this moment).

Nathan and Haley's Vow Renewal on On Tree Hill
The CW

5. Nathan & Haley's Vow Renewal

Well, the wedding itself was beautiful. After Nathan and Haley’s relationship was nearly torn apart by Chris Keller (Tyler Hilton), they recommitted to each other and had a real wedding day (more on their first wedding below). Although it’s kind of crazy to think that they had already been married twice by the age of 17 … that’s One Tree Hill for ya!

It didn’t take long for things to go wrong, though, and it was all thanks to Rachel (Danneel Ackles), who drunkenly exposed that she’d been sleeping with Nathan’s uncle, Cooper (Michael Trucco). It only got worse from there when Rachel stole Nathan and Haley’s wedding limo and drove it off a bridge with her and Cooper inside. Nathan jumped into the water to save them and nearly drowned, which meant that he and Haley weren’t able to take the honeymoon of their dreams.

No show does a car accident quite like One Tree Hill, that’s for sure.

Quinn and Clay's wedding on One Tree Hill
The CW

4. Clay & Quinn

As the replacements for Peyton and Lucas after Burton and Murray left One Tree Hill, Clay (Robert Buckley) and Quinn (Shantel VanSanten) had a lot to live up to for fans. They both had complicated pasts (Clay’s first wife died, while Quinn’s first marriage fell apart), but helped each other heal.

There was absolutely nothing extravagant about this wedding. It was simple and took place in a courthouse. But the reasoning behind it was what made it so special. Clay suffered memory loss after his first wife Sara’s (Amanda Schull) death, and completely forgot about the fact that they had a son, Logan (Pierce Gagnon), together. When he finally got his memory back, Logan moved in with him and Quinn, and the couple decided to elope so that Quinn could officially adopt Logan. It was the ultimate gesture and the perfect ending for this family.

The CW

3. Nathan & Haley

Nathan and Haley’s first wedding took place when they were just 16 years old, which is obviously bizarre, but since they were endgame, we’re going to let it slide. The nuptials took place on the same day Nathan and Haley got engaged, so there was no time for planning. They wed on the beach with just Haley’s parents in attendance, and it was an intimate and romantic affair.

Although it wasn’t traditional, it was the perfect moment for the high school sweethearts. They later celebrated with a reception at TRIC with their friends and loved ones.

2. Peyton & Lucas

I was honestly so nauseated by Peyton and Lucas by the end of Season 6, but their wedding was a long time coming. Considering they had to put it together very quickly amid Peyton’s pregnancy, it was nothing fancy, but it turned out to be just the right ending before Burton and Murray’s sendoffs (they left OTH at the end of Season 6).

Haley reading Lucas’ high school prediction that “Peyton Sawyer will become Peyton Scott” was a great way to show how full circle this romance was. Plus, the ceremony took place at the spot where Peyton and Lucas met in the pilot, which was simply perfection.

Of course, nothing perfect can ever last for long in Tree Hill. After the wedding, Peyton collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. But the nuptials were over by that point.

Brooke and Julian's Wedding on One Tree Hill
The CW

1. Brooke & Julian

Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Julian’s (Austin Nichols) storyline got old to me over time, but they definitely had the least dramatic actual wedding day in all of Tree Hill history. Jamie as the best man? What could be cuter?!

Although it was disappointing that Peyton couldn’t make it (Burton had left the show at this point, and the reason for Peyton’s absence was that her daughter was sick), the big day had all the makings of a classic TV wedding.

Plus, it was so nice to see Brooke’s dream wedding come to fruition, despite her previously abandoning her book of ideas after losing her company. It was all thanks to maid-of-honor Haley, as she passed Brooke’s wedding book along to Julian’s mother, who paid for the nuptials that Brooke could no longer afford herself.
