Welcome to Stardew Valley, where gamers go to live out their cozy farm-life dreams.

In this open-ended role-play game (or RPG), you play as a farmer who has inherited their grandfather’s farm in Pelican Town, Stardew Valley. As the creator ConcernedApe puts it in the game’s description, “Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won’t be easy.” From raising crops and adopting animals to going on quests and exploring the mines, Stardew Valley has a lot to offer anyone looking for a relaxing game that manages to be low-stakes yet never boring. Plus, it has a fantastic soundtrack.

Here at Swooon, we’re always looking for the next big love story, and Stardew Valley does not disappoint in the romance department. As soon as you start your farm, you can explore the town and meet the members of the local community, including the 12 single townspeople who are looking for love.

As a single farmer yourself, you get the chance to meet Pelican Town’s eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. By offering them gifts, you can unlock cut scenes that give you insights into their interests, quirks, and backstories. Ultimately, your farmer can even get married!

Who are these bachelors and bachelorettes? Scroll down to meet all of Stardew Valley‘s potential love interests!

Abigail in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Abigail

With a funky hair color and a love for the supernatural, Abigail is Stardew Valley‘s resident Crystal Girl. She can often be found lurking in the graveyard or searching for frogs, which hop around the valley on rainy days. When she isn’t outside, she can be found living at Pierre’s General Store with her mother and father, who often worry about her “alternative lifestyle.” As her mother, Caroline, says: “I wish she’d find some wholesome interests instead of this occult nonsense she’s into.”

Likes: Amethysts and banana pudding. Get this girl to Magnolia Bakery!

Dislikes: Clay and holly.

Alex in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Alex

If you’re looking for a sports romance, Alex is your guy. He can be spotted throwing around a gridball outside of his grandparents’ house. While he may seem confident in his ability to make it big-time, he’ll turn to you when he seeks validation. Our warning: Don’t tell him you don’t think he’ll ever make it pro, unless you want to see him crashing out. In that case, feel free to put him in his place.

Likes: Salmon dinner. Alex doesn’t believe in Girl Dinner, confirmed.

Dislikes: Quartz and holly. Again with the holly?

Elliott in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Elliott

This Tamlin-looking fellow is Elliott, a local writer who lives in a shack on the beach. Elliott moved to the valley seeking inspiration for his debut novel. Ever the romantic, he finds beauty in everything, often pointing out small things like a “resplendent butterfly” or a “bottle of fine ink.” If you’re looking for a romance to sweep you off your feet, you might just be Elliott’s perfect muse.

Likes: Crab cakes and pomegranates. How very sapphic.

Dislikes: Pizza. What???

Emily in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Emily

Emily currently works at the saloon, the town’s Friday night hotspot, but she dreams of quitting her job to become a tailor. Get to know her and she’ll let you know that she made the clothes she’s wearing. If you’re lucky, she might even gift you a sewing machine of your own. We love a partner who wants to share their passions!

Likes: Cloth and wool.

Dislikes: Ice Cream. So Ross Geller coded.

Haley in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Haley

If you believe that opposites attract, Haley and your farmer are the perfect match. On the surface, Haley might seem judgy and a tad rude, but like many of the other local singles, she becomes much friendlier once you get to know her. That is, if you can get past questions like: “Farming sounds sooo boring… What do you even do all day?”

Likes: Coconuts and pink cake.

Dislikes: Any mushroom. Same, girl.

Harvey in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Harvey

Farming and mining are grueling jobs, so it will be sooner rather than later that you’ll meet Harvey, the town doctor who also happens to be one of the older bachelors in Pelican Town. If you’re into an age gap romance, you’ll be happy to hear that Harvey loves to express his qualms with getting older and thinks that he’ll “stay younger with you around.”

Likes: Pickles and wine. Fantastic combo.

Dislikes: Coral.

Leah in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Leah

If you’re looking for an artsy, “crunchy granola” gal, look no further than Leah’s cabin just outside of town. While anyone looking at her sculptures would say that she’s definitely a talented artist, she’ll be the first to confess that she gets anxious sharing her work in public. As she puts it, “it’s simpler to be friends with the trees. They don’t have much to say.”

Likes: Truffles and goat cheese. Hot take.

Dislikes: Bread. Hotter take.

Penny in Stardew Valley

Penny

Pelican Town doesn’t have a school, so Penny can often be found around town or at the library tutoring the local children, Vincent and Jas. Much like us, Penny loves to read and will tell you, “When you’re lost in a book, it’s easy to forget the realities of your life.” We’d love to hear her thoughts on ACOTAR

Likes: Tom Kha Soup. Now that’s taste.

Dislikes: Wine and beer.

Maru in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Maru

As the daughter of Pelican Town’s local carpenter and scientist, it’s no surprise that Maru is incredibly handy and loves to tinker with gadgets. If you’re passionate about the stars, be sure to get to know Maru. If you become close enough with her and she’ll invite you to look at the night sky through her telescope!

Likes: Battery packs. Interesting choice.

Dislikes: Pickles. Harvey would never.

Sam in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Sam

According to the game, Sam has a habit of “starting ambitious projects and not finishing them,” making us weary to say that the young skater is ready to be marriage material. His most ambitious project? The band he’s hoping to start with his best friend and pool-playing rival, Sebastian. If you get a chance to listen, their music kind of slaps.

Likes: Pizza and Joja Cola.

Dislikes: Bone fragments. Us too?

Sebastian in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Sebastian

The other half of Stardew Valley’s best bromance, Sebastian is “a rebellious loner who lives in his parents’ basement.” What a catch, right? Don’t judge him too soon, though. If your farmer is looking for a guy who loves comic books and sci-fi, Sebastian might surprise you.

Likes: Pumpkin Soup and sashimi.

Dislikes: Piña coladas. Bet he doesn’t like getting caught in the rain, either.

Shane in Stardew Valley
ConcernedApe

Shane

If your dream meet-cute begins with, “I don’t know you. Why are you talking to me?” then Shane is the guy for you. While farmers originally meet Shane during a rough patch, he certainly has the most character development throughout the game. If your farmer is willing to stick around for a slow-burn romance, he’s definitely worth the wait.

Likes: Beer.

Dislikes: Pickles. Again with the pickles?!
