Is Sarah J. Maas About to Drop an ‘ACOTAR’ Announcement? All the Latest Updates

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

ACOTAR fans are buzzing right now. Could we be getting an announcement from Sarah J. Maas on May 5? The date will mark 10 years since the release of her romantasy phenomenon, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and fans have been inquiring about a potential (and very monumental) news drop on the anniversary.

Across the United States, huge standing versions of A Court of Thorns and Roses have been popping up, courtesy of Bloomsbury, the publishing house behind the ACOTAR series. The large display is also opened to a specific bookmarked page—when Feyre meets Rhysand on Calanmai. So, what’s really happening? Are we getting an announcement? Let’s break down the latest updates.

What is Sarah J. Maas’ announcement?

It’s unclear if Sarah J. Maas is even making an announcement on May 5. All of the recent ACOTAR promotion could be focused solely on the 10-year anniversary of the first novel in the series.

However, many fans are convinced there’s something more afoot. Bookstagrammer Sandy’s Book Corner shared a video of a standing version of A Court of Thorns and Roses and wrote, “The Suriel told me not to say anything… but let’s just say ACOTAR 6 might break us all before it heals us. Something is coming. And no, it’s not just another Starfall.”

He also noted that Maas signed the display, and he wondered if this was a “sign” of an announcement. One fan pointed out that Maas’ husband, Josh Wasserman, liked the post, which intensified the fan theories of impending ACOTAR news.

Many fans believe that the author will give an update about the sixth book in her A Court of Thorns and Roses series on May 5. Back in December 2024, Maas revealed that she would have an update about Book 6 “soon.” It’s been nearly sixth months and no update yet!

When is the next ACOTAR book coming out?

The ACOTAR Book 6 release date has not been announced yet, which is why fans have been theorizing that the potential May 5 announcement will give us that answer.

The fifth book in the series, A Court of Silver Flames, was released all the way back in 2021. The first three books and novella only had one year between releases. Maas took her time with A Court of Silver Flames. It was an almost three-year wait for the fifth book.

It’s already been four full years since A Court of Silver Flames hit bookshelves, the longest gap Maas has had between ACOTAR books. Granted, she’s released two Crescent City novels since then, but ACOTAR fans have been itching for an update.

Is there an update on the title of ACOTAR Book 6?

In addition to the ACOTAR Book 6 release date theory, fans have also wondered if we could be getting a title update.

In the years since A Court of Silver Flames, readers have been throwing out possible titles for the sixth book. The title A Court of Gentle Claws went viral, but it was just an April Fool’s joke.

Book Huddle’s Lauren Moore, who believes Book 6 will focus on Elain Archeron, had some solid title ideas: A Court of Golden Visions, A Court of Gilded Leaves, A Court of Crimson Shadows, and more.
