Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has been one of the hottest men on The Young and the Restless for decades. When he’s not off the market, he’s Genoa City’s most eligible bachelor. The handsome son of Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) has always been easy on the eyes, and he’s never been one to shy away from some romance on Y&R.

His willingness to open his heart has to be admired, even if it’s gotten him into some uncomfortable situations at times. Over the years, Nick has had several love interests, from his first love, Sharon (Sharon Case), to his steamy relationship with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), to his brief romance with Sally (Courtney Hope).

With Nick and Sharon heading down the road of rekindling their relationship, this seemed like the best time to look back at Nick’s love interests. Who is Nick’s greatest love? Swooon is here to rank Nick Newman’s love interests. Do you agree or disagree with our ranking? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

7. Nick & Diane

This was so brief I nearly forgot it happened at all. This blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fling went down when Maura West was playing Diane. This romance was just a blip on the Nick Newman Romance Radar.

6. Nick & Sage

Look, Nick and Sage (Kelly Sullivan) were fine, but this romance (and the chemistry) just didn’t hit the right spot. At one point, it felt like the writers were just trying to force this relationship on fans. Nick and Sage’s marriage was short-lived because Sage was killed in a car accident in 2016. She had just figured out that her and Nick’s son, Christian, was alive and being raised as Sharon’s son, Sully. Sage was just about to tell Nick when she died. Unfortunately, the character was the most interesting in her final moments.

5. Nick & Sally

To the Nick and Sally fans out there, I don’t see the vision. These are two characters who should not be together. First of all, they’re not right for each other. Second, this relationship sucked the life out of Sally. A romance red flag. Also, another Nick, [insert woman here], and Adam love triangle? These characters deserved better.

4. Nick & Chelsea

Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) soulmate is Adam, and you’ll never convince me otherwise. Nick and Chelsea’s relationship never felt truly serious because they were always just an alternative choice for each other. Morrow and Egan have fine chemistry, but there’s never been any real spark between Nick and Chelsea.

3. Nick & Avery

Hope this isn’t a controversial take because it’s the right one. Avery (Jessica Collins) was exactly what Nick needed when she came into his life. Collins is such a treasure, and she radiated warmth as Avery. The character was also incredibly accomplished and ambitious. (Sometimes our boy needs a little push.) Honestly, Avery was the perfect mix of Sharon and Phyllis. Nick and Avery’s relationship wasn’t destined for the long-haul, but they were enjoyable in their heyday.

2. Nick & Phyllis

Hottest affair in soap history? Absolutely. Nick and Phyllis’ romance had me in a chokehold. (Seriously, who doesn’t love a forbidden romance trope?) Morrow and Stafford have always had immaculate chemistry. Nick and Phyllis’ affair and the fallout was Y&R at its best. There’s always going to be that spark between them (lust is a powerful thing), but these two are better off keeping their relationship platonic. In any other universe, these two would be endgame. But their one true loves are other people. Phyllis and Jack (Peter Bergman) are soulmates, and Nick’s is…

1. Nick & Sharon

Nick and Sharon are soulmates, one true loves, and the ultimate endgame. They were each other’s first loves, and they’ll be each other’s last. Nick and Sharon have entertained various other love interests over the years, but none have come close to what they have when they’re together. When they’re in orbit, it’s magic. Even when they’ve hurt or betrayed each other, Nick and Sharon always find a way to forgive each other. From the moment they met, there’s been an invisible string connecting Nick and Sharon — one that cannot be severed. When it comes to Nick’s heart, all roads lead back to Sharon.
