‘When Calls the Heart’: Erin Krakow Teases ‘Frisky Fun’ & More Romantic Moments in Season 12
When Calls the Heart is returning for Season 12, and the Hearties are anxiously awaiting the new episodes. The cast and crew recently wrapped production, which means we’re inching closer and closer to finding out what’s next for Elizabeth (Erin Krakow), Nathan (Kevin McGarry), Lucas (Chris McNally), Rosemary (Pascale Hutton), and the rest of the Hope Valley residents.
The ending of Season 11 left us with so many exciting possibilities about what’s to come. Elizabeth confessed her love for Nathan, and the pair blessed us with a long-awaited kiss. Mike (Ben Rosenbaum) and Mei (Amanda Wong) got married, and Hargraves (David James Lewis) showed up with news about Elizabeth’s late husband, Jack (Daniel Lissing). Swooon spoke with Krakow and got some Season 12 scoop.
“I can just tell you it has been such a roller coaster of a season, and I mean that in the best possible way,” the Santa Tell Me star told Swooon. “I can’t speak for every actor or every character on our show, but I can say that for my character, there has been so much variety: high highs, low lows, some real frisky fun, some comedy, and some serious drama. That’s just scratching the surface. It’s going to be a huge season.”
Elizabeth and Nathan are now officially a couple — finally! — and Krakow teased an exciting next chapter for their characters. “Well, we spend a lot more time together this season, and I think you get to see some real romantic moments between us, as well as some really heartfelt co-parenting in this blended family. Those scenes are some of my favorites. They’re really special this season,” she revealed.
Krakow reunited with her former costar Lissing in Hallmark Channel‘s Santa Tell Me. Lissing left When Calls the Heart after Season 5, and his character was killed off in a tragic landslide.
“We had talked about it years ago, trying to find a project or create an opportunity that would bring us together again,” Krakow said. “I think that I just became very focused on When Calls the Heart, and Dan has other projects that he’s been working on, so it kind of took a backseat for a while, and then this was just a really fun surprise when the opportunity to reunite came about.”
