‘ACOTAR’ Book 6 Release Date Revealed: Everything We Know So Far

Sarah J. Maas' ACOTAR novels

At long last! To the Night Court we go! We finally have a release date for the sixth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses franchise. It’s been five years since Sarah J. Maas released A Court of Silver Flames in early 2021, and it turns out we’re getting Book 6 in a matter of months.

Maas made the announcement during her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast on March 4. Not only did she reveal the release date for ACOTAR Book 6, but we also got a release date for the seventh book.

Swooon has collected all the essential information about A Court of Thorns and Roses Book 6 that you need to know. Did SJM reveal the title(s)? What’s the latest on the TV adaptation? These are all the latest updates.

When is ACOTAR 6 coming out?

Book 6 will be released on October 27, 2026. “I’ve been working and working on that,” Maas said on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “It’s been a long time coming. It took me a long time to write, just because there were enough things going on in my life that I had to sort through.”

She continued, “It’s taken a while because it took me a while to find the right story and to be in the right headspace. And then what poured out of me was this, and it poured out very quickly… I was in Montana this summer, and I don’t know, I think there’s some kinda energy vortex, like around Big Sky, because like I just got there and it clicked. It all came out of me.”

What will ACOTAR 6 be called?

We don’t know yet, but it will be “A Court of…” to follow in line with the rest of the series. The previous book was Silver Flames, which alluded to Nesta’s powers. If the next book is about Elain, maybe there will be some sort of garden reference.

Maas refused to reveal whose POV the book will be in. “And that was one of the surprising things for me, like writing this and what came out,” she told Alex Cooper, before adding readers will get “insight to various things.” Maas was able to dish that the sixth book will be “long.” A Court of Silver Flames was over 700 pages.

What will ACOTAR 6 be about?

This is a mystery because Maas has not confirmed which character will be the center of the next novel. Fan theories have settled that the next novel will focus on Elain, the last of the Archeron sisters to get her own book. While the first three books centered on Feyre, Silver Flames split perspectives between Nesta and her love interest, Cassian.

Elain has yet to set a love interest in the story, which makes the male perspective a big question mark. Will it be an Elain and Lucien novel? He is her mate, even if she is rejecting the bond. The other option is Azriel, who has had a flirtation and protective relationship with Elain since she emerged from the cauldron at the end of A Court of Mist and Fury.

Azriel is the fan-favorite option, but Maas could split the perspective with any character or not split it at all. Expect the unexpected when it comes to this diabolical mastermind! She could throw us all for a loop and focus the next novel on Mor, who wandered off on her own mission in Silver Flames and still has a lot of question marks about her origin story.

How spicy will ACOTAR 6 be?

Silver Flames was the spiciest Sarah J. Maas book to date. If we do get an Elian/Azriel split perspective, we can expect at least another four pepper book because Maas has said herself that Azriel “is a freak.”

We also shouldn’t underestimate Elain’s taste in the bedroom once she finds someone she actually wants to do the horizontal tango with. Just because Elain is meek and quiet doesn’t mean she doesn’t know what she wants! And if it’s a Mor book, we already know that she knows how to get down.

When is ACOTAR Book 7 coming out?

Night Court fans, we’ll be getting two ACOTAR books in less than three months. Maas also announced that Book 7 will be released on January 12, 2027.

Maas confirmed in a 2024 interview with TODAY while promoting the third Crescent City novel that she had four more books on her current book deal, including ACOTAR 6. Throne of Glass is completely wrapped up, and Crescent City has wrapped up its main trilogy.

ACOTAR Book 7 will not be the final book in the series. Maas said on Call Her Daddy that there will be a “conclusion” to the series after that.

Is ACOTAR getting a TV series?

Hulu was developing an ACOTAR television series in 2021, but by 2024, the adaptation was no longer moving forward. Outlander boss Ronald D. Moore was initially set as the showrunner of the ACOTAR series, but he eventually stepped away.

“It wasn’t really my decision,” he told Swooon in 2025. “I mean, I was at Disney. I was in development. It was a chaotic period. The thing about it was [going] from COVID to the strikes to a lot of shakeup in terms of Bob Iger leaves, Bob Iger comes back, and as a result, that piece of development just never got traction, and eventually I left, and the last I heard it was still in development, so I don’t know what happened to it.”

On Call Her Daddy, Maas revealed that she now has “the rights back to everything now and getting the rights back to all my things has been a big part of my journey in recent years that maybe at some point soon I will talk more about, but right now my focus is on books, and it’s been a little while since you guys have had something, so I’m focusing on that.

She added, “But I look at any TV/movie adaptation as kind of like another facet of the worlds that I’ve created, and it’s something that I want to be in charge of, I want to be figuring out. I want to be learning everything that I can. I’m a type-A control freak, a little bit, but I want to know everything about how it gets made, not because of that control, but just because I love movies. I love TV. I want to be a part of that, and I want to see everything adapted the way I envision it and the way I know fans want it.”
