‘The Rookie’s Eric Winter Hints at Major Chenford Season 7 Moment: ‘Feelings Come Out’

Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) may not be together at the moment, but the love for Chenford is hanging on. The fan-favorite Rookie couple hit a major romance roadblock when Bradford ended things in Season 6.
Could Chenford get back together by the end of Season 7? Winter has a spark of hope for the fans rallying for their reunion.
“Tim and Lucy find themselves in a very tricky situation…a moment,” Winter told TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow about the upcoming Valentine’s Day episode. “These two have never stopped caring about each other. So you put two people in a compromising, weird position, and feelings come out. Maybe a little bit of their thoughts come out…I can tease that you’re going to get a moment where they have to check themselves.”
The Chenford fandom was built on the slow burn, so rest assured, we can endure this wait. But we’ll happily take any morsel of feelings surfacing between Chen and Bradford right now.
The actor stressed that the love between Chen and Bradford is still very much alive. “They never broke up because they stopped loving each other,” Winter said. “They broke up because Tim didn’t feel he was good enough for her.”
Recognizing the passion of the Chenford fandom, he continued, “And I think that’s what the fans have to understand… As a little time has passed, the wound is still there, but it’s healing. There’s a scab for Lucy. She’s trying to make amends with the situation the best she can.”
Executive producer Alexi Hawley previously told TV Insider that it was “important” to come into Season 7 “with a sense of positivity, of them having gotten to a place where the old dynamics could start to kick back in — while they try and navigate whether there’s a way back to what they had.”
Chenford fans, stay strong!
