HGTV’s Erin Napier Shares Her Marriage Advice & Reveals Ben’s Epic Romantic Gesture

HGTV couple Erin and Ben Napier have been married since 2008, and Erin loves to sing her husband’s praises.
Having had two kids together, Erin is thrilled about all the effort he puts into her and their children. Working on their Home Town Takeover show as a duo, viewers at home have been able to witness their connection. In a new post, the 39-year-old revealed some key marriage advice.
She began by retelling one of their early interactions. “When @scotsman.co and I first started dating he was so proud of me as an artist, he bought me this cotton brush roll from the campus bookstore at @jones_college.” Erin noted that Ben buying those supplies was even nicer than it sounds because, at the time, “He had no money to spare.”

His generosity didn’t end in college. Instead, it’s a principle he has brought along throughout their marriage.
“When we had daughters, he bought them dozens and dozens of canvasses to paint whenever they wanted.” She added, “When we got the farm, he built a painting room for me in secret.”
So, after divulging her husband’s sweet romantic gesture, Erin had a final piece of advice to bestow, “Girls: marry the one who encourages you.”
To keep the positivity going, many of her followers shared anecdotes about their own “Ben.” Illustrator Mary Engelbreit replied, “I could not have done what I’ve done without my husband Phil’s complete and unwavering support❤️. And I probably wouldn’t have believed I could do this in the first place if I hadn’t had my darling parents’ support growing up. Their example made me very picky when choosing a husband!”
Another person stated, “Love this! And I did marry a man who didn’t get my creativity (he’s an engineer) but he let me set up a studio in our home, helped me paint the room and has encouraged me ever since…25 years later I’m still painting and creating.”
