Dallas and Drayton fans, we are so back. Sidelined: The QB & Me was one of the most delightful rom-coms of 2024, a throwback to the high school love stories we love so much. Thankfully, Dallas (Siena Agudong) and Drayton’s (Noah Beck) romance is just beginning. In the highly anticipated sequel, Sidelined 2: Intercepted, the couple will be entering a new chapter — the college years! On October 27, Tubi dropped the first swoonworthy trailer for the sequel.
After Sidelined: The QB & Me shot to the number one spot in both the U.S. and Canada on Tubi, the hype for Sidelined 2: Intercepted just keeps increasing. Scroll down for all the latest updates on Sidelined 2: Intercepted, including the premiere date, new photos, trailer, and more.
When is Sidelined 2: Intercepted coming out?
Sidelined 2: Intercepted will be available to stream on November 27, Thanksgiving Day. After catching the NFL’s John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration, you can tune into the sports rom-com on Tubi for free. (Or you can watch Sidelined 2: Intercepted first. We sure will.)
The sequel will arrive about seven months after filming took place. On April 22, Beck announced that he’d finished shooting his Sidelined 2 scenes. “Sidelined 2: Intercepted will be urs soon,” he captioned a series of Instagram photos. “U all already know how much this project means to me. the love the first film got exceeded all expectations, but to get a second one??? now that’s love. the set environment we have built on this project truly reflects the product, and it stems from the whole cast to the entirety of the crew.”
He added, “Being able to step into the shoes of Drayton for another movie was a dream and i can’t wait for u to experience the ups and downs of college life w him xx.”
Is there a Sidelined 2: Intercepted trailer?
A month ahead of its premiere, Tubi dropped the first trailer, which you can watch at the top of this page. It looks like Dallas and Drayton will be pulled in two different directions in the rom-com sequel. They’re juggling the pressures of school, football, and dance while trying to stay united in their relationship.
Dallas is also introduced to a new guy named Skyler, played by Charlie Gillespie. “There’s just something holding me back,” Dallas tells Skyler. He replies, “Something or… someone.” (Skyler, stay away from Dallas!) Will Dallas and Drayton’s romance last through college? Only time will tell.
Who is returning for the Sidelined: The QB & Me sequel?
Main characters Drayton and Dallas are returning for the sequel. Beck told Swooon that Sidelined: The QB & Me “fulfilled something in me creatively that I felt like wasn’t being fulfilled for the longest time.”
James Van Der Beek will return as Leroy Lahey, Drayton’s father. Drew Ray Tanner will be back as well. He plays Nathan Bryan, Dallas’ older brother and guardian.
“I’m beyond thrilled to have James and Drew return for the sequel—they brought so much heart and depth to the first film, and their journey continues in an even bigger way,” said Justin Wu, who directed both films. Get your first glimpse of the Dawson’s Creek alum below.
Some new cast members were added to the Sidelined 2: Intercepted roster, too. Julie and the Phantoms star Charlie Gillespie is set to appear as Skyler, a musician and CalArts senior. Based on the first look image below, it seems like he’ll share a seemingly romantic moment with Dallas. Firefly Lane star Roan Curtis will play Charlotte, a USC senior working as a student athlete trainer.
“With Charlie and Roan joining the cast, we’re raising the stakes with fresh energy, undeniable talent and dynamic new chemistry,” Wu said. “Collaborating with this cast has been an absolute joy, and I’m so excited to bring this next chapter to life with them!”
Other new cast members include Kolton Stewart as Zach, Sage Linder as Miley, Terry Mullany as Ryan, and Michael Xavier as Coach Watson.
Is Sidelined 2: Intercepted based on a book?
The next installment isn’t based on Tay Marley’s sequel to Sidelined: The QB & Me, which is called Playing For Keeps. The author, who began Dallas and Drayton’s story on fanfiction platform Wattpad, has written three books about the couple. When it comes to Playing For Keeps, Marley says that the story follows “Dallas’ brother, Nathan, a little more closely,” but the sequel will stay focused on Dallas and Drayton’s romance.
What will Sidelined 2: Intercepted be about?
According to a press release, “The sequel will focus on freshman star quarterback Drayton as he struggles with the weight of expectations after a devastating setback, while dancer Dallas begins to question the future she thought she wanted. As their high school relationship begins to unravel under the pressures of distance and self-discovery, they’ll learn that the bravest versions of themselves emerge when they let life redirect them.”
