Who Got Engaged in ‘The Ultimatum’ Season 4 Finale?
After a drama-filled season, The Ultimatum Season 4 has officially come to an end. The experiment began with six couples, but after two exited before the trial marriages really got underway, just four made it to Decision Day.
And what a journey it was. Between explosive group chats, fiery grillings (both on and off the barbecue), rocky trial marriages, dance lessons, and plenty of relationship breakthroughs, this season delivered no shortage of memorable moments, especially with most of the episodes dropping at once. We also still have questions remaining: Did Killian make the modesty comment? And just how picky an eater is Luke?!
Now that the dust has settled, it’s time to answer the big question: Who got engaged on The Ultimatum Season 4? We already know Edris and Jessica Grace got engaged at the very first dinner, so we’ll skip over their blink-and-you-miss-it stint in the experiment. Here’s what happened with the four couples who made it all the way to the final decision. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, Season 4, Streaming Now, Netflix
Killian Grondin & Ashley Wilson
Ashley and Killian‘s relationship was anything but smooth sailing this season. While Killian entered a trial marriage with Hayley, Ashley spent the experiment with Blake, and the pair’s biggest issues quickly came to the surface. Ashley worked on finding her voice and standing up for herself, while Killian focused on… we’re not really sure what he was actually working on.
The two stayed in contact throughout their trial marriages, much to the frustration of Hayley and Blake, which ultimately sparked one of the season’s biggest blowups between the two couples.
Despite the fallout from Killian’s inappropriate group chat and the conflicting accounts surrounding his “modesty” comment to Hayley, Ashley and Killian stayed united. If anything, their shared conflict with their trial partners seemed to bring them even closer.
Before the final decision, Killian once again asked Ashley’s father for his blessing to marry her. He reluctantly agreed, though not without mentioning that he wouldn’t exactly mind if the couple decided to call it quits instead. Yikes.
Ashley entered Decision Day feeling optimistic and excited about their future together, while Killian admitted he was “nervous” and “anxious.” In the end, though, there was no hesitation. Killian got down on one knee, Ashley happily said yes, and after taking a literal leap off a building earlier in the season, the couple took another one — this time into marriage.
Blake Robertson & Hayley Hendrich
As for the other half of the season’s messiest foursome? Hayley and Blake may have presented a united front during their feud with Ashley and Killian, but once the drama settled, their own relationship quickly began to unravel.
Throughout their trial marriage, Hayley grew increasingly frustrated with what she saw as Blake’s emotional distance and inability to meet her needs. Blake, meanwhile, made it very clear that he was exhausted by the feeling that nothing he did was ever enough. Hayley lost her cool at what she called his “first-date” questions, while Blake admitted he missed the validation and ease he had experienced with Ashley during their trial marriage. We had to keep turning down the volume on their scenes.
By Decision Day, however, the couple had found their way back to one another. As they faced their final choice, Blake became emotional almost immediately, catching Hayley by surprise. The two reaffirmed that they still believed each other to be the loves of their lives before Blake got down on one knee and proposed.
The pair then collapsed to their knees in tears as Blake promised to keep growing and becoming the partner Hayley deserved.
David Atkinson & Casey Douglass
Casey and David‘s final decision was one of the season’s most emotional, thanks in part to the timing. Decision Day fell on Mother’s Day, a particularly difficult occasion for Casey, who lost her mom at a young age. She shared that she hoped an engagement would give the day a happier meaning and that her mother was watching over her. We’re not crying, you are.
During the experiment, David formed a strong connection with Monica in their trial marriage. A key moment was his heart-to-heart with her father, whose turbulent upbringing mirrored his own. It gave him the hope he had been missing that he wasn’t doomed to repeat his own history.
When he reunited with Casey, David opened up about just how difficult the previous year had been for him, catching Casey off guard as she hadn’t realized just how bad things had been.
By Decision Day, David admitted he had been reluctant to join The Ultimatum in the first place, but ultimately believed the experience had made them both stronger. After reading Casey a heartfelt letter, he ended it the best way possible—by getting down on one knee.
Casey, of course, said yes, making them yet another couple to leave The Ultimatum Season 4 engaged. The producers were truly producing this season!
Monica Payne & Luke Wesselhoff
High school sweethearts Luke and Monica have been together since they were 13 years old, and throughout the season, it was clear they still shared that unmistakable puppy love. Luke entered The Ultimatum determined to get engaged, and by the time Decision Day arrived, nothing had changed on that front.
The experiment gave Monica the chance to express something she’d struggled to articulate before: She wanted Luke to see her as a real person, not the idealized version he’d built up in his head. She admitted she didn’t always have everything under control and needed to feel she could lean on him for support. This tiny woman had been carrying a lot on her shoulders.
Luke was surprised to hear she’d been feeling that way and promised he was ready to show up for her in the ways she needed. As an added bonus, he also passed his firefighter exam during the experiment — win!
When Decision Day arrived, it was arguably the least surprising outcome of the season. Luke got down on one knee, Monica happily accepted, and the pair officially got engaged.
That made it four engagements out of four couples, a remarkable success rate for The Ultimatum Season 4.
