This season, viewers got to know Blake Robertson and Hayley Hendrich, Killian Grondin and Ashley Wilson, David Atkinson and Casey Douglass, Luke Wesselhoff and Monica Payne, Edris Khalieque and Jessica Grace Booker, and Alex Johnsen and Jebin John. While the full cast entered as couples, they quickly split to enter trial marriages with different partners to explore what a marriage would really look like.
Out of the six original couples who entered the experiment, only four made it into the trial marriages. While speed dating with other couples was enough of a test to make them realize that getting engaged was their next step, another became the first couple to get kicked out of the experiment.
Scroll to find out where all six original couples stand after their trial marriages with different partners and sound off in the comments below with which couples you think will get engaged at the end of the season.

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, Season 4, Episodes 9-10, Wednesday, July 22, Netflix
Killian Grondin & Ashley Wilson
Relationship Status: Still Together
Trial Marriage Partners: Killian and Hayley, Ashley and Blake
Killian and Ashley’s trial marriages sparked major jealousy and discomfort on both sides, leaving bad blood between the couple and Hayley and Blake. Their first road bump came when all four of the cast members got together to address their constant contact, ending up with them blocking their original partners. This was short-lived.
By the end of Episode 4, Hayley spotted Killian and Ashley secretly meeting up. Hayley further called out Killian’s “disrespect,” claiming that his friends sent messages in a group chat about how she wouldn’t “put out” and how they were going to “f**k [Hayley] and change the show’s plot.” Hayley later claimed that Killian told her, “If you were anyone else, and you weren’t modest, I would have f**ked whoever it was with how Ashley is acting.”
When Hayley and her original partner Blake tried to warn Ashley about Killian and his friends’ behavior, she told them that they were gaslighting her, leading to Ashley leaving her trial marriage with Blake early. (Trial divorce?) Now, it looks like Ashley and Killian have come back together.
Luke Wesselhoff & Monica Payne
Relationship Status: Still Together
Trial Marriage Partners: Luke and Casey, Monica and David
Luke and Monica both saw a lot of growth with their trial marriage partners, leaving with solid connections. Monica was specifically surprised by her connection with David, who is very different from Luke.
Now that they have gotten back together for their second trial marriage, Monica admitted to Luke that he put her on too high a pedestal. She explained, “I felt like so many times, I reached out like,
‘I need you. I’m not okay. I’m feeling weak.’ And it felt like, ‘No, it’s Monica, she’ll be okay.'” Apologizing, Luke told her, “I put you on the pedestal because that’s how I see you. But I need you to know, you don’t need to be perfect to be sitting on that pedestal.”

Trial Marriage Partners: Blake and Ashley, Hayley and Killian
Both Blake and Hayley’s trial marriages gave them a bit of perspective on their own relationships. During the two couples’ all out argument at The Changeover, Blake consistently defended Hayley.
At the start of Episode 8, things were not going too well for Hayley and Blake. They had a major argument, with Hayley yelling at Blake about how she always has to ask for everything in their relationship. He fired back, “I am not this cold-hearted bastard that doesn’t give a s**t about anyone’s feelings, and who doesn’t know how to love anyone. I am a good person.” Could the pressure be too much for their relationship to last?

Trial Marriage Partners: David and Monica, Casey and Luke
After five years together, David has already given Casey three promise rings, but no engagement ring. During their trial marriages, David and Casey learned more about themselves. For David, this meant learning how to ask for help and be vulnerable with his partner.
Now that they’ve gotten back together, the duo has been more open about what they need in their relationship. Casey confessed, “I think we both lost sight of what matters.”
Jebin John & Alex Johnsen
Relationship Status: Split
Jebin and Alex became the first couple in Ultimatum history to get kicked out of the experiment after Jebin passed Alex a note in an attempt to correspond off-camera about her blossoming crush on Killian. In the note, which Alex later read on-camera in front of the entire cast, he told her, “Up until this point, this experience has made me feel less confident in you, as clearly you have something else on your mind… I don’t want you to make me look dumber than you already have.” He continued, “You ruined it. You ruined everything. You f***ed us over. I honestly hope to God you guys weren’t touching on camera. I’m not f***ing doing this… There is no way we are getting married.”
While Jebin clearly had to go, Alex got the boot as well due to the “awkward” number of people left in the experiment. Luckily, Alex gained several friends through the experiment to help her through the breakup after six years with Jebin. Find out more about the note scandal here!
Edris and Jessica Grace did not make it to the trial marriages either. However, their departure was for a far happier reason. At The Choice, Edris got down on one knee, asking Jessica Grace to marry him and leave the experiment right then and there, after hearing how Jessica Grace and Luke felt about each other. He simply asked her, “Will you marry me?” Then, she responded, “Of course I will!”
