It’s time! The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On is back for an explosive fourth season, with six couples putting their relationships on the line to find out whether they’re ready to get married… or walk away for good. But before the trial marriages even begin, the cast has experienced a major shakeup, and only four couples remain. Yep, nothing is ever straightforward on this show.

One contestant who’s already got everyone talking is Jebin John. As the youngest man in the cast, Jebin enters the experiment facing a major hurdle: his family refuses to accept his relationship because his girlfriend, Alex Johnsen, isn’t Indian. But as the season unfolds, it quickly becomes clear that’s only the beginning of the couple’s problems.

Here’s everything you need to know about Jebin John from the first three episodes of The Ultimatum Season 4. (Warning: Spoilers for The Ultimatum Season 4 Episodes 1-3, below.)

Who is Jebin John?

Jebin is a 23-year-old hedge fund manager from Chicago. According to his Instagram bio, he’s into fitness and comedy, regularly sharing workout content alongside humorous reels.

Jebin also still lives at home and proudly admits that his mom cooks and cleans for him. In one eyebrow-raising moment, he even jokes, “My wife has to be my new mom.” That’s borderline Freudian.

Who is Jebin’s girlfriend?

Jebin enters The Ultimatum after being given an ultimatum by his partner of six years, Alex Johnsen. The pair first met while working at a local grocery store in Chicago and, after a late-night shift, bonded over an Italian ice before sharing their first kiss. Jebin says he loves that Alex appreciates his sense of humor, and it’s clear he’s deeply attracted to her, but there’s one major obstacle standing in their way…

Jebin reveals that his parents don’t support his relationship with Alex because she isn’t of Indian descent. He worries that choosing Alex could mean losing his relationship with his family, while Alex describes their disapproval as a constant “strain” on the relationship. To make matters worse, she’s never even been invited to family events.

One of Alex’s biggest concerns, however, is whether Jebin is mature enough for marriage. He often deflects serious conversations with jokes, and not all of them land. During one breakfast, for example, he jokingly calls Alex a “hungry, hungry hippo.” Yeah, this comment doesn’t exactly scream future husband material.

His attitude toward the experiment also raises eyebrows. Jebin tells the other contestants he’s “50-50” on whether Alex is the one and even describes the experience as, “I’m chilling. It’s vacation.” Oh, boy. Judging by those comments, he seems far less certain about their future together than Alex does.

Who is Jebin’s trial partner?

Jebin doesn’t seem to have quite the same success as Alex during the dating phase. While she’s forming genuine connections, he keeps most of his conversations fairly surface-level, relying on jokes over vulnerability. On one memorable date with Ashley Wilson, he launches into a story about a mishap caused by his lactose intolerance. Let’s just say she isn’t exactly impressed…

As the experiment continues, several of the women pull Alex aside to say they’re concerned Jebin isn’t taking the process as seriously as she is. More than one contestant questions whether he’s emotionally mature enough for a commitment as big as marriage.

Heading into the choosing ceremony, it was anyone’s guess who Jebin would pick, given that he hadn’t formed any particularly strong romantic connections. But as it turns out, he never gets the chance.

At the final group mixer, Jebin secretly slips Alex a note, asking her to read it in private. Producers immediately confiscate it, and the following day, Alex is asked to read the message aloud in front of the entire group.

In the letter, Jebin criticizes Alex for her growing connection with Killian and blames her for bringing them onto The Ultimatum. His words leave the room stunned, and the atmosphere shifts instantly. As a result, Nick and Vanessa Lachey decide to remove Jebin from the experiment, explaining they no longer feel comfortable pairing him with any of the other women.

With Jebin gone, Alex is also forced to leave so the remaining contestants can continue the experiment evenly paired. It’s one of the most shocking moments of Season 4, and one that leaves everyone wondering whether their relationship could possibly recover after such a public fallout.
