The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On is back for Season 4, and it’s already delivering the chaos we’ve come to expect. This time around, we’ve got a couple being sent away before the experiment even begins, another surprise engagement, and the ultimate relationship shake-up: a double girlfriend swap. (If they were wife swaps, we probably wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place.)

One contestant who has quickly caught everyone’s attention is David Atkinson, thanks to his height, impressive physique, and collection of tattoos. But there’s more to David than meets the eye — although, admittedly, there’s a lot to see.

So who is the pro baller behind the headlines, and what brought him to The Ultimatum Season 4? Here’s everything you need to know about David Atkinson.

Who is David Atkinson?

David is a 33-year-old professional basketball player who plays overseas, as well as a business owner with several projects under his belt. He co-owns a drug-testing clinic, Texas Drug Screens, with his partner (more on her later). According to his Instagram bio, he’s also launching a clothing brand, Apparel 28, which appears throughout his photos and focuses on fitness apparel with a growth and spiritual mindset.

He’s also the founder of Mystery World Stories, a YouTube and TikTok channel exploring unusual and mysterious tales from history. When he’s not juggling businesses, David seems to spend plenty of time traveling and staying fit. During his dates, he reveals that 28 is his favorite number, and his tattoos feature references to Greek mythology, biblical verses, and other personal symbols.

Who is David’s girlfriend?

David enters The Ultimatum with his partner of five years, Casey Douglass. One of the first things we learn about their relationship is that David has given Casey three promise rings in the past… taking up prime real estate that could have been saved for an engagement ring. Casey knows David loves her, but wants to get married.

So why hasn’t he upgraded to the real deal? Well, David explains that he needs to time to overcome his fear of Casey, or any partner, leaving him. His parents divorced and have since left subsequent relationships as well. He wants to get married only once, and can’t be certain that Casey is that person for him. Meanwhile, Casey feels she has put their life together on the line in the meantime. The 34-year-old knows she wants children and is feeling some pressure to start the next phase of her life.

Who is David’s trial partner?

David doesn’t seem particularly daunted by the dating aspect of The Ultimatum—and the women quickly take notice of the 6-foot basketball player. He enjoys each of his dates, but two connections begin to stand out: Monica Payne and Hayley Hendrich, each for very different reasons. Like David, both women entered the experiment after being given an ultimatum.

During his dates with Monica, David opens up about how important physical intimacy is to him in a relationship, revealing that he tends to take a more dominant role in the bedroom. We’re guessing Casey might have had some thoughts while watching that conversation unfold.

At the choosing ceremony, Hayley finds herself deciding between Killian Grondin and David, and David makes his case for why she should choose him. Ultimately, Hayley goes with Killian, leaving David to make his own decision. He chooses Monica for his trial marriage—and luckily for him, she feels exactly the same way.

That means David and Casey swap partners with Monica and Luke Wesselhoff, creating one of the season’s most intriguing dynamics. Because if there’s one thing The Ultimatum guarantees, it’s that these partner swaps are never simple. David also specifically tells Luke to treat Casey with respect, so let’s hope he holds up that promise.
