“When he proposed to me, I had a gut feeling that something was wrong,” Hayley Hendrich revealed to Swooon, looking back at her short-lived engagement with Blake Robertson. “I did not think that it was the right thing to do, but I also didn’t want to leave by myself.”
During the Season 4 finale of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, Hayley Hendrich addressed her split from Blake, revealing that their relationship ended shortly after they left the series engaged. While much was discussed on the reunion stage, she made it clear that not everything was addressed. As viewers now know, a TMZ report revealed that Blake was arrested following an alleged assault against Hayley after the season filmed.
“I think that I was holding on to hope that things would get better,” Hayley admitted, recalling the proposal day. “I do think that I was holding on to the hope that, if we did get engaged, things would change, and that he would finally listen to me. Finally try to meet my needs. Take accountability for things. Be empathetic with me. You know, basically putting a bandage over all the wounds… I do think that Blake’s vulnerability in that moment gave me a bit more hope because I’ve never seen him cry like that. Ever. I’ve never seen him speak about me like that. I feel like that was a light in a really dark tunnel, and I was just chasing the light.”

She continued, “It was a hard decision. And looking back, I really wish that we wouldn’t have [gotten engaged.] When we got back home, it just was — really, it was not good. We did not get to enjoy one bit of our engagement at all, and it lasted what, four months? So it was very hard.”
Season 4 was filmed from March to May of 2025. Hayley confirmed that she called things off with Blake in mid-to-late September of last year.
While she and Blake were not in contact before the reunion, which was filmed about a month before it aired, Hayley told Swooon, “That has changed over the past week [leading up to the premiere]. After the reunion, he came up to me. We were in the same hotel. He was being apologetic, and so we had a conversation. We talked for a few days after that, and then I ended up blocking him.” After that, he reached out to her cousin.
“They had a really, really long conversation, like three hours long,” she said. “And me, as an empath… I just felt so bad for how the situation has gone. Even though I don’t — I mean — I feel like most people wouldn’t, if I’m being completely honest. But yeah, I had a conversation with him just about everything, and because Blake likes to… He kind of lives in his own delusional reality. I was able to talk to him about it. It was things that were very important, and things that are a bit sensitive that are gonna come out after the show airs.”
She continued, “I don’t like when people do not take accountability for what they do. I don’t like when people spin things to benefit themselves. That’s basically the theme of the conversation. I was trying to make sure that we’re living in an actual reality, and not just gonna spin things to benefit ourselves.”
When asked if she wanted to comment on the “sensitive” subject that was going to come out after the show aired, which was seemingly Blake’s arrest, she responded, “I think for now, I don’t. I’m going to steer away from that just because it is very heavy… I’m kind of in a different state of mind than I was, I guess, three weeks ago, when the reunion actually filmed. I honestly feel really bad for Blake, again, when I shouldn’t. I really shouldn’t, but I just don’t want someone’s image to be destroyed because people can take things and run with them.”

Today, Hayley confirms that she is “very single.” So, can fans expect to see her on another Netflix reality series? “I feel like if the opportunity presents itself, I could be open to it,” she explained. “But I’m not gonna hold my breath or anything, or try to say, ‘Oh yeah, I’m definitely going on this show.’ I think I’m just open to seeing what opportunities present themselves.”
