Carolina Sofía Quixano has found herself at the center of drama on Season 29 of The Bachelor. This week, she was called out by other women in the house for not being sure if she was ready for an engagement with Grant Ellis following their one-on-one date.

As Carolina explained on the show, she felt like she needed more time with the former basketball player before deciding if she’d be ready to accept a proposal. However, there were some women who hadn’t even had a one-on-one date at all yet — like Rose Sombke and Juliana Pasquarosa — so they felt like Carolina was being greedy and wanted her to go home if she didn’t trust this process.

Before Monday’s episode even aired, Carolina posted a teaser from the show on her Instagram Story that centered on the drama. She defended her stance, captioning it, “God forbid you’re not sure about a man you’ve been on one date with.”

She then re-posted several tweets and memes from fans who were backing her up. “Why are the other girls acting like it’s crazy that Carolina isn’t head over hells for Grant in week 4?” one said. Another message compared Carolina to Season 28’s Maria Georgas. “Carolina is being treated like Maria. Like I just don’t think she’s the villain here.”

The drama with Carolina actually began during the February 10 episode when she and Rose had a conversation off-camera about the previous week’s group date. During the date, Carolina shared a special moment with Grant where she danced on his lap in front of everyone. However, in the behind-the-scenes conversation, Rose said Grant told her that he was thinking about her the whole time he was dancing with Carolina.

What exactly he said to Rose was: “I’m not going to sit here and lie. You’re somebody that I do think about. I just want to make sure that you know that because I’m very interested in you. Like even today, right? The whole dancing thing onstage and everything, I was thinking about you. I don’t want you to feel like I’m not paying attention, because I am.”

Carolina confronted Grant with the information Rose gave her, which led him to brand Rose as a liar and call her out. He ended up giving her a rose, but the tension with Carolina ended up proving to be too much. Rose self-eliminated this week. “I want to go home! I had a breaking point,” she said, through tears.”It is in my best interests to go home.”

Meanwhile, Juliana and Carolina both got roses at the rose ceremony and are now in Grant’s top 7.
