Quickly becoming a fan favorite because of her outspoken opinions on politics and her values, Sara Carton has been the one to watch in Love Is Blind Season 8.

Yet, the relationship she found in the pods poses the question of whether or not people with different outlooks on important issues can successfully fall in love — and stay in love. Her partner, Ben Mezzenga, has not been as closely involved with politics, but Sara and Ben’s romantic connection prevailed in the pods despite their differences.

As the season continues, Sara and Ben’s relationship will continue be at the forefront as they inch closer to their wedding day. They’ll be meeting each other’s families, which means we’ll be introduced to Sara’s sister, whom she discussed in the pods. From her family to her career, here’s what you need to know about Sara.

What does Sara do for a living?

As an oncology nurse by trade, Sara is not the only person in the medical field in Love Is Blind Season 8. There’s even another oncology nurse who graced the screen, Meg Fink.

Excited at the start of her nursing journey, Sara posted her work badge on Instagram with the caption, “CANT WAIT to put my 4 years of education towards a career encompassing diversity, empathy, growth, and learning. Life is hard, challenging, and frustrating at times – but life is also exciting, rewarding, and purely one of a kind. Don’t take it for granted people,” in September 2018.

Where is Sara from?

With plenty of nods to her home state on her social media profiles, Sara makes it clear that she is from Minnesota.

Going to high school in St. Cloud, Minnesota, it is to be assumed that she is from around that region. Still living in the state as of now, she briefly left for college. She attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and stayed within the realms of the Midwest. However, it’s still a six-hour plus drive from her presumed hometown.

What has Sara said about her family?

Being open about her religious upbringing, she has since strayed away from her family’s beliefs. She revealed that the reason for that is quite simple: her sister’s existence.

Sara’s older sister, Lisa, is a gay woman. Her sister being brave enough to be herself has made Sara question a lot of the way Christianity has been presented by some devout followers.

This change has also turned Sara into a more politically aware person. As her interest in becoming more aware surrounding the current equality status has grown since the 2016 election, she directly asked her frontrunner Ben where his morals and values lie.

Ben shockingly admitted that he’s not really involved with anything on the political spectrum. While talking about George Floyd’s murder, he admitted, “Like, I didn’t vote in the last election.” Not happy with that answer, Sara replied, “That is so annoying.”

She then asked him about his views on Black Lives Matter. Ben stated, “I’m not one way or another. I just kind of keep out of it.” Ben also divulged that his faith is important to him and that he would prefer to be married to someone who’ll join him in church every Sunday.

Are Sara and Ben still together?

Yes, they are still engaged after the first six episodes of Season 8.

Even though she wasn’t truly satisfied by Ben’s answers about politics, Sara was still impressed enough by her match to accept his proposal. She did, however, disclose that her values are important to her.

We’ll have to keep watching to see if their relationship can continue to overcome their differences.
