Amy Robach Reveals ‘Biggest Surprise’ of Living With T.J. Holmes
Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were “best friends for so long” before they started dating, but there’s always something new to learn about each other. For Robach, that happened after the two moved in together last year.
“We spend so much time together [that] I don’t think there was a surprise of any kind,” she told PEOPLE at first. However, she then came up with a quality of Holmes’ that she didn’t know about before they started spending every night together.
“He has to sleep with the television on at all times. I did not know that,” Robach admitted. “How would I know that if we were just friends? So that was the biggest surprise that I’ve now gotten used to. I’ve moved over from white noise to television.”
The couple also gave an update on their future plans and reiterated that they plan on tying the knot in the future. “It’s a promise,” Robach confirmed. She added, “The truth is, my mom even asked me, because we wear our Oura Rings, she thought that maybe we had actually gotten married and not told her. And we’re wearing our rings on the other finger. I was like, ‘Mom, I would definitely tell you if that were the case.'”
Robach and Holmes started dating in 2022 while cohosting GMA3: What You Need to Know. At the time, they were newly separated from their respective spouses, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig. The journalists have insisted that there was no overlap in the relationships. Interestingly, Shue and Fiebig have since started dating as well.
In 2024, Robach and Holmes started living together after Robach’s daughter and her roommate moved in with her due to a roach infestation at their apartment. With the duo residing in her home, Robach started permanently spending time at Holmes’ place. The pair revealed that it was a “trial period” at first, but added that they hadn’t found anything “wrong” with cohabitating.
