Gavin Rossdale Opens Up About Gwen Stefani Divorce in Rare Interview
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have not been in a romantic relationship for nearly a decade. Since their divorce in 2016, the Bush frontman has been mostly keeping his lips sealed about the end of his marriage to the No Doubt singer. However, the 59-year-old has started to open up about their marriage and split.
The former couple share three kids together, Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10. Both have moved on from each other, Stefani with country artist Blake Shelton, and Rossdale with girlfriend Xhoana X.
Talking to Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his Dinner’s On Me podcast, Rossdale admitted to having fond memories of his time with his ex-wife. First, he recalled memories of their family home in Los Angeles. “It was such an exciting time. I was there for a number of years when we were just together, when we got married, we had our first kid there,” he said.
Rossdale also gushed about Stefani as he stated, “Gwen did a beautiful job on the nursery. That house has fantastic memories. We used to have amazing New Year’s Eve parties every year. We never knew what to do, so it was easier to make the party come to us. Fantastic times.” He continued, “That was right at the height of everything really fun work-wise, it was really a great time for us. So I have a great memory of that house. Beautiful time.”
Yet, that isn’t all he revealed. Thinking back on his time as a recently divorced man, he owned up to needing the help of pal Jack McBrayer. “What’s so sweet about Jack is since I got divorced and was raising the kids on my own, he’s come to every Christmas and Thanksgiving that I do with my kids,” Rossdale noted. He added “Jack is the best. He’s wonderful. He’s a really good friend of mine.”
The 30 Rock actor is even trying to help Rossdale get his break in the acting world.
Prior to his Dinner’s On Me interview, Rossdale touched on the subject during his appearance on the the Amy & TJ podcast. He shared that he “never thought [he’d] get divorced” and even mentioned that it was his “clearest, simplest shame.”
“I feel bad for my kids, that’s it.” He further said, “That would be the most profound thing, of like, I wish I could have just figured out a way to not have that in their lives.”
