Colleen Hoover’s ‘Regretting You’ Movie: The Latest Updates on the Romance Adaptation
In the midst of the It Ends With Us drama, there are more adaptations of Colleen Hoover‘s books in the works. The next one to hit theaters will be Regretting You, a multi-generational story of love, loss, and second chances.

When is Regretting You coming out?
Regretting You is set to be released in theaters on October 24, 2025. The film is being distributed by Paramount Pictures and will have a theatrical release. It’s unknown when the movie will hit streaming.
Who is in the Regretting You cast?
Girls star Allison Williams will play the lead role of Morgan Grant in Regretting You. She’ll be joined by Mckenna Grace, who will play Morgan’s daughter, Clara. Dave Franco is playing Morgan’s love interest, Jonah. How to Train Your Dragon’s Mason Thames will play Miller, Clara’s love interest.
Author Anna Todd’s Frayed Pages Media is producing the film adaptation. Todd told Swooon that she pushed for Franco to be cast as the film’s romantic lead.
“When I first brought up Dave, they were like, ‘I don’t know,’ because he doesn’t really sound like a romance guy. He really hasn’t done many. And I’m like, first of all, he should be. And if I were his agent, he would be,” the After author said.
She added, “I thought we should at least try to have him read the script. Again, he’s very selective with what he does because he makes very strategic choices. Josh has a relationship with him, so it worked out perfectly. But I was wondering how people are going to take it online because he’s not who you would first expect. But once you think about it and see him and think about him being a teacher in a classroom, I knew he was perfect for it.”

Scott Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald have also been cast in undisclosed roles. However, it’s likely that Eastwood is playing Chris Grant, Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, while Fitzgerald could be playing Jenny, Morgan’s sister.
Josh Boone is directing the film. He’s best known for helming the film adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars.
What is Regretting You about?

Regretting You, which was released in 2019, follows Morgan Grant and her daughter, Clara. Their lives are upended by a car crash that kills Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, Chris, as well as Morgan’s sister. On the most tragic night of her life, Morgan discovers a secret that changes everything.
As Morgan and Clara try to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of such devastating loss, they find comfort in other people. Morgan in Jonah, her longtime friend, and Clara in Miller, the one boy she’s forbidden to see.
Are there other Colleen Hoover movie adaptations?
Yes! It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, and Brandon Sklenar was released in August 2024 and made over $350 million at the box office. The film is now at the center of a legal scandal between Lively and Baldoni.
Verity, Hoover’s romantic thriller, is currently filming in New York City. Anne Hathaway, Josh Hartnett, and Dakota Johnson star. Reminders of Him, Hoover’s 2022 novel, will also get the film treatment with Maika Monroe in the leading role.
