‘The Twelve Dates of Christmas’: Everything We Know About Hallmark’s New Holiday Romance Series

Winter has only just transitioned into spring, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t already counting down to the happiest time of the year.
With the holiday season being eight months away, Christmas is still far off, but Hallmark is here to change that mindset. The network, which is focused on romantic movies, knows its clientele and has announced an exciting new series.
The first project to be announced is The Twelve Dates of Christmas. Instead of a one-off movie, this will be a series for all to enjoy! Scroll down to get the latest updates about Hallmark’s newest holiday series.
When is The Twelve Dates of Christmas coming out?
The Twelve Dates of Christmas won’t be released for a while, but you can expect the premiere date to be around the holiday season. The six-episode limited series will be part of the network’s iconic Countdown to Christmas line-up. The series is currently being filmed in and around Dublin, Ireland.
Who is starring in The Twelve Dates of Christmas?
Be ready for some pretty big names to hit the show. Leading the bound-to-be hit is Mae Whitman. She’s best known for her roles in the NBC shows Parenthood and Good Girls.
Other notable names who will grace The Twelve Dates of Christmas with their presence include Mary McDonnell, Jane Seymour, Julian Morris, Toby Sandeman, and Nathaniel Parker.
What is The Twelve Dates of Christmas about?
The Twelve Dates of Christmas is based on the Jenni Bayliss novel of the same name. After Hallmark’s announcement, Bayliss took to Instagram to share her excitement. “I have had the most amazing experience in the virtual writers room with some incredible screenwriters: @erin917 @thegoodfan @zachug Davah Avena and the lovely @sammitirri. I didn’t know what in the heck fire I was doing but they are the sweetest people and they let me get well overexcited about sharing ideas and writing words. I feel so lucky to have been involved in some small way and so blessed to have met them,” she wrote.

I am super excited to see how it turns out and truly grateful to all the people who are putting their all into this production. Let me tell you, a lot of love has gone into this thing.
The series will focus on Kate (Whitman), a talented Saville Row textile pattern designer who lives in the quaint village of Blexford, England. Stuck in her routine, Kate has all of her close friends and family nearby. Her dad Mac (Parker) is her direct neighbor, while her mom (McDonnell) is an adventurous American globetrotter.
Kate takes care of her dad, who is recovering from a motorcycle accident, so she does not have much time for herself — until her best friend Laura (Lucy Eaton) decides to do something about that. She signs Kate up for The 12 Dates of Christmas, a holiday-themed matchmaking program in the days leading up to the holiday. Offering carefully curated yuletide dating experiences, the service might just help Kate get out of her rut.
Kate’s not initially on board with the idea, but she participates after being coerced by Laura and her other longtime best friend, Callum (Morris). Soon, Kate is immediately caught off guard when she meets someone special (Sandeman).
Yet, not all things are going that smoothly as Kate and Mac’s Christmas cheer is overthrown when her mom unexpectedly shows up on their doorstep. However, Mac looks to open his heart again with Evelyn (Seymour), a widow who slowly helps him step outside the confines of his house. Meanwhile, as Kate takes a plunge into the unknown with her 12 dates, discovering love and herself.
